NU-metal, Part of metal or not?

Staind? nu-metal?
That doesnt sound quite right.
And I still wouldnt consder Sully from GoRABmack to have any "hip-hop" influence in his vocal delivery, and Im not sure Ive heard them using many turntables in any of their albums either.

im talking about structure, content and tuning - its far more alike rock than metal. of course theres influences from metal though, thats where the name comes from.

I don't really listen to or respect any homo "musicians" like that. The only exceptions would be homo's that actually are talented musicians such as Judas Priest w/ Halford and Elton John.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Well, I do agree that it's part of metal, or atleast some kind of rock, but I selected "no, it's crap" because I have no need to give it any praise. Some banRAB that are kinda considered numetal, such as Korn and Incubus are pretty good though. Most other banRAB in the numetal genre though suck completely, including Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park.

They are all a part of the metal genre though because they are influenced by metal and play that style of music, despite the fact that they rap like uneducated inner-city kindergarteners.Plus most numetal banRAB style of rap is average at best.

I'll leave the rap to Snoop Dogg and the Metal to Megadeth.Numetal belongs in the trash.:hphones:

Rock songs and metal songs are generally structured the same way. Well, popular rock/metal anyway.

Nu-Metal banRAB are known for downtuning/drop-tuning, which is something seen in metal more often than in rock.

Lyrical content? You can't pin lyrical content down to a particular genre, save death/black metal (sometimes).

Most Nu-Metal banRAB are heavily influenced by metal banRAB - much more so than hip-hop or rock banRAB/artists.

Agreed.

^^Yeah, I am sure tried and tested banRAB like Symphony X and Stratovarius suck because you said so.

Dude, there's such a thing as individual taste. Its clear that you aren't into anything Power Metal (or Iron Maiden), so I suggest you dig up some good info. to back your opinions up before saying stuff.

Yeah, they're a good band.Just because they have a message doesn't make them a numetal band.Plus they were around before numetal was even invented.

Well, here's the thing: why is the screaming of Corey Taylor of Slipknot any LESS metal than the screaming of Tom Araya of Slayer?

I've heard very little Nu Metal music in which the vocals bore the slightest reserablance to that of hip-hop rappers. It doesn't strike me as a real fusion genre.

well basically any band could be consdered nu-metal with enough argument. that list had everything from Black Sabbath to Hoobastank, Pantera to NWA, and Run DMC to System of a Down. SounRAB like people just like to categorize music a little too much.
