Now gone! Pink Floyd has left a void

Yellow/Green/Black/Pink Floyd

Like the Grateful Dead lost Jerry Garcia and with him the majority of its legend, Pink Floyd, I don't think, or either band can ever have enough influence to form successfully again, since too many of their members have died. It would be like the Beatles forming again, with just Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr; then trying to make new Beatles songs, touring, and still looking like a solo Paul McCartney group. If Roger Waters, Bob Klose, and Nick Mason do that, it would also sound "hollow" or a completely "new sound" and different style, making it more like an individual effort that's really not Pink Floyd anymore. Sad to see such great talent lost.

Songfacts.com reminRAB us of a touching story in the song, Another Brick in the Wall, of Pink's father that is ironic now:

"Part 1 of this song is often overlooked. It is saying that because Pink's father went off and died in WWII, he built The Wall to protect him from other people. In the movie you see him at the playground with the other kiRAB and their fathers, then one of the kiRAB leaves with his father and Pink tries to touch the father's hand. The father pushes him away quite aggressively then leaves."

Another Brick in the Wall Part 1

Daddy's flown across the ocean
Leaving just a memory
Snapshot in the family album
Daddy what else did you leave for me?
Daddy, what'd'ja leave behind for me?!?
All in all it was just a brick in the wall.
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall.

"You! Yes, you! Stand still laddy!"

The "Dark side of the moon" was an empty place
Not now, it is where Pink Floyd has finished his race
He left a void on earth and filled one on the moon
No more and no longer will he play a new tune.

that yellow text is killing my eyes broseph
it sucks that Rick died... but Pink Floyd stopped really being Pink Floyd after The Wall... and even Animals/The Wall was mostly done by Roger Waters, with minimal creative input from David, Nick or Rick. Not to say that I don't like them; Animals, WYWH, Meddle, The Wall are probably my favorite Floyd albums. I do like post-Waters Floyd albums, but they just aren't the same.

My earliest memory is lying on my mother's couch in Palo Alto, CA, listening to Sky Pilot by Eric Burdon and the Animals. I remember being enthralled and "exploring" the sky of our living room.

I agree The Wall was their last really impressive album but what an incredible "atmospheric" wonder it was. I was twenty at the time and stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, WY. Listening to The Wall album there like multiplyed my fun one hundred times, along with Frank Zappa's Joe's Garage.

As for your eyes, dude, I suppose you'll recover. lol

Obviously it will never be the same, but the shows would still be badass. I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan and seeing Roger Waters live was definitely cool.

there is a big floyd cover band coming here soon, i'de like to go but don't feel like dropping the cash and i don't have anyone to go with. I saw a floyd cover band a few years ago and it was pretty entertaining.

They do that on TV a lot. They make the picture out of focus and I always look away real quick and wait a little 'til its gone. It bothers me really easily. I wear contacts and have really bad vision without them. My eyes get dry, if I don't get lots of lighting in the evening.

Australian PF Show kicks-ass. After seeing the real Floyd 6 times starting with the Meddle Tour in 72, I was still totally impressed with the Aussie Floyd Show. Too bad they're not coming to Detroit this winter
