"Now and Then, Here and There" On Sci-Fi's Ani-Monday Block - Talkback *SPOILERS*

Man I almost forgot about that guy. I watched this five years ago and all I could remeraber was how hilariously over-the-top his craziness was. It got to the point to which he could barely function as a human being.

I won't spoil what happen's to Sara, but it's actually pretty funny in retrospect. Well, the whole series is, but I digress.

I know this is unlikely, but I hope this TV run gets other companies interested in a licence rescue for this show. The CPM boxset was awesome (the extras alone were worth the price!), but its super rare now. And it would suck if people fell in love with this show via Sci-Fi, tried to buy the DVRAB, and found out that it's nearly impossible to find legit copies.

It's going to be weird seeing an upbeat show like Gurren airing along side something not so upbeat. While Now and Then, Here and There is not really the type of anime I usually enjoy, this series makes an exception. I hope people stick around to watch it. It's worth it.

Well they sure aren't going to Disney World. That's for sure.

Evil moving desert venus fly-traps = always a bad sign.

Wow. He cut a giant scorpion tail thing with that tiny blade? I love it when Anime defies logic and physics.

Nabuca's grown a conscience.

Children line up on the left in front of the enlistment office. Grown-ups line up on the right in front of the gas charabers.

The king's gone mad with power! He's gonna eat the Chort!

bigdeath is being sarcastic, garfield. bigdeath most likely has already seen it.

The first episode of NTHT is the most misleading episode of an anime series ever, I swear. It looks like just another shonen fantasy series, but by the end of the 2nd episode we already see that this show is far, far different from being "just another shonen fantasy". And if you think this is something, just wait. That girl you saw at the end of episode 2 . . . she's going to become really important soon.

Finally Nabuca redeems himself.

Okay. Insane no longer describes this guy. Hamdo has no description as to how messed up he is.

HAH! CALLED IT! HE DID SHOOT NABUCA!

Hey! RIOT!

Looks toonier than I thought it would...

I was expecting a bunch of shojo stick figures with ridiculously pointy noses and rose petals everywhere.

You're in the army now
You're not behind a plow
You'll never get rich
King Hamdo's a...err, ahem,
You're in the army now.

I'LL RIP YOUR FRIENRAB INTO TINY LITTLE PIECES! AND THEN I'LL RIP THE TINY LITTLE PIECES INTO TINIER LITTLE PIECES!

See how brutal this is folks? Two deaths in two minutes.

His mother's gonna freak when she finRAB that blood stain on his jacket sleeve after he gets back.

Well, Gurren isn't always so upbeat. There are times when it can be pretty sad.

Have heard good things about this, but I really had no idea what it was about until I read the first post. I'll stick around after Gurren and check it out.

That first episode is a horrible tease! When I bought the show, I thought it would be in the vein of Fullmetal Alchemist (lighthearted show with bits of heavy drama here and there). By the end of disc one I wasn't sure if I even wanted to finish the whole boxset.

And, in my opinion, Sarah was the real star of this show. Her reactions and the way her character changed felt a lot more realistic than Shu's unwavering optimism.

Not sure if I'll be able to catch the airing of this tonight, since I have to go to College orientaition tomorrow, but I've been trying pretty much all the shows the block airs, and I've been wanting to see more Central Park Media dubs.
