Non English actresses putting on English accents

I got the French thing too but then read more and it was talking about the actual actress.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers kept slipping in and out of an Irish accent on the last series of The Tudors, It was a bit odd to watch an Irish Henry VIII. (should be on BBC2 soon)

Have to agree re. Angelina Jolie, I'd never heard of her before Tomb Raider so was very shocked when I discovered she isn't even English! Cate Blanchett vote for me too, and that reminRAB me also Liv Tyler in Lord Of The Rings along with Cate - they actually made efforts to give their accents their own 'voice' if you get me rather than just mimicking the 'English' accent.

It's not blatantly bad at all, perhaps its just not the generic american accent you expect. He has the accent of an excentric american in that role, as such he has some leeway.. Really bad accents have a bleed through of the original accent, and that's much worse.

Not really no. Remember, she was playing the role of a 17th century London girl stuck in her own time as opposed to moving with the times as Spike did.

Pretty good in my opinion, certainly no worse than the likes of Billie Piper (proper London girl) when putting on a 'ye olde English' accent.
