Nokia's Metal Black E50

No where does it actually say it's the metal black version except for a internet pic of one. I've emailed asking including some real pics of it.

I went ahead and took the plunge, bought it from Freddytel on Ebay.de. No firmware update, but the phone has no problems whatsoever which is a relief as it seems to be a lottery with this phone

Pics below taken today of the metal black E50, side by side with a silver/white version.

I think the silver white is a beautiful phone and looks slighly classier in a business context, but the metal black is nice too. However the silver/white version IMO looks horrible with the pearl black theme, whereas the metal black one can actually pull it off.

One loss vs the silver/white and silver/black versions is that the metal black does not have blue blacklighting on the keys and the surround of the joystick is striped black with white backlighting, so the effect there is not as cool as the blue backlighting on the other versions.

That said, I find the white backligting on the metal black version to be easier to read so maybe it is more practical.

I've took the plunge too, after a bad experience with a Silver/black E50 I've been convinced that it was just a dud example. So I've got the black version.

Its a thing of beauty, the silver variants can't compare. And better than that, so far it works!!!

Why is everyone so sure there aren't any firmware updates for the black edition or did you mean that your black edition is running the same firmware as your white one?

My metal black is
06.27.1.0
10-07-2006

I read on some threads that the metal black won't have firmware updates for it which i think is a bunch of bs. That being said, I agree my phone runs with zero hitches so far (knock on wood). Love the form factor and the colour.

That sucks....I took out a 2nd mortgage on this house I'm about to sell so my profits will be relatively thin as well.... ...but oh well...theres an N95 around the corner so who cares!!

I can see where you're coming from, loveanh, but I believe carsmovies is right. The black designation that they give the E50 is just the trim around the phone. It comes in white, black, or metal black.
