Nokia N95 Variation Guide for Noobs

There are plenty of opinions and this has been discussed to death in the forums. A quick search would have yielded lengthy discussions.

The question is, is the difference worth the $100 to YOU? You get the black finish, 2.8" versus 2.6" screen and 8GB of storage built in. With the N95-3 you get removable memory which means you can upgrade to 16GB, you can plug the mem card into an adapter in your PC for great data transfer speeds. With the N95-4 it's USB only and the transfer speeds are really slow. If you want to update your music on the phone a lot then this can be frustrating.
 
Does anyone know if nokia is moreso focusing on the n96 now and won't make anymore revisions to the n95? Ex: n95-4 with a memory card slot instead of built in memory?
 
Thanks for the info! I have read many, long threads but what you summarized so succinctly is spread out amongst them and hard to find without spending hours reading many inane comments.
 
I sincerely hope the N95 series is dead. It's a great phone and a classic all around, but it's time they stepped up their flagship line with something that has the newer, rounded N-series look that everything else has. I'd be very surprised if they didn't release a NAM N96, eventually.
 
So true. I realize it can be a pain to filter through some threads especially when they can run so far off topic.

What I listed are the basic differences. They both run the same hardware (proc/RAM) so performance is similar. I think there are slight differences in software between the two in the form of the multimedia menus so you may want to check those out as well. Truthfully, I rarely use the multimedia key on my N95-4.
 
One unrelative question, is compusa and tigerdirect the same company? the website design, item sales(item numbers), and even prices are almost the same.
 
what Telus said is true.
IIRC, anything other than Rogers and Fido use the HSDPA network (3G) for their sim phones (as opposed to good ol' GSM). North America had to be different from the rest of the world so they use different frequency bands (850/1900 vs 2100). Again I'm not sure about it all....I just woke up...

so whats the next best phone in line after the n95 8gb that will work with tmobile? i had the crackberry curve before this and loved it... only issue with that phone was that the web browser sucked and no video recording... i even tried the iphone for 3 days with att and hated it! i need a full web browser phone thats not windows mobile either... sorry to be picky.

a lot of people have said that . . . thing is, ive already got an ipod touch. So im not really looking for a phone with tons of apps and games. I just want a phone that can call and email people =P
