Nokia N95 Variation Guide for Noobs

I just bit too. So the model from tigerdirect is the N95-3 model. is there a way to confirm by typing in some key strokes on the phone? I want to buy a car holder and car charger combo from ebay for use in my car.

The red one is already on the list. There's no US version of it, or at least, not a US version that uses US 3G. Only a Euro import, if anything. X1387 is selling them, so if anything, it's probably an APAC release.

Of course the DPI is different. QVGA on a 2.6" screen will yield a different DPI than QVGA on a 2.8" screen. That's just math. As far as brightness, the only screen I remember reading was brighter was the 8gb. The -1 and -3 both use the same screen hardware.

Helllo
i hope this is not a stupid question
i know i have a N95 euro . 3g wont work
is there any possible way or Mod i can do to have 3g north america work on it ??
or i am doomed need to buy a new n95 north america version ?

hi. i am on the brink of buying the N95 8GB euro version. yet i stay in canada.
after some research, i think the NAM models have 3g calling with america and canada. while the Euro version wont have 3g calling within canada.IS THIS THE ONLY DIFFERENCE? if this is right , please let me know. coz i wouldnt want to buy the wrong phone and start stressing coz, this phone is worth alot.lol
i prefer the euro version coz i mostly travel to UK, Germany, holland , and south Africa. so i think the NAM with 3g calls isnt a big deal to me. if thats the only loss, then am in for the Euro. besides, with rogers raising the stakes with there phone plans, i will be paying off the roof for north american 3g.

You are doomed. The version of N95 that you have, does not have the 'physical' radio to communicate at the NA ATT/T-Mobile frequencies. Sorry !

Ebay the phone and hopefully get yourself a new one ;) Or just wait for the North American N96.

Hi,
Where are the phones made? I thought they were made in Finland but I've been looking to buy one on ebay and all the buyers I ask tell me they are made in China. Whats the deal with that? Also does the 8GB version have Wifi?
Thanks

yes that's pretty much the only difference. just stay away from the n95-1 because it has smaller battery and much less RAM.

i suggest getting the version that has 3G where you live, because unless you travel to UK 8 months a year, you will use 3G here every day, day after day, while the UK 3G will only be once in a rare while.

now there was an n95-2 version that actually had 850 and 2100 mhz 3G, which was for australian market actually i guess (not UK). this would work and give you 3G in both canada AND the uk. however i dont know where to get that version or how popular it is. but more importantly, it depends if your carrier runs 3G on 850 mhz in your area. its been confirmed that in the toronto area, 3G runs on 850 mostly. so it would work there POSSIBLY.

you would have to trial and error first, or test with another phone, or get user reports from this forum for your exact location. even then, you will only have half the 3G capability of your network which can run 3G on 850 and 1900. so say you move, or you work in an area that runs 1900, it might not work out for you.

Is this the verison you guys are waiting for at amazon, mco etc? CTI Miami It has 3g in the description but still wondering about the bands... I was going to buy this verison of the N95 for T-Mobile's up coming 3G network. Glad I came here first. I can live without a qwerty keyboard for awhile.
