nokia n93 issue

so i originally bought my n93 unlocked from importgsm, and then used it for a few months before i decided to sell it to my friend. i deep/hard resetted it for him so that it would have a clean slate, and then when he tried to put his sim card in it, it asked for an "unlock code." i tried entering the default 12345, but that wasnt it. then we tried putting several other sim cards in it, but it always asks for an "unlock code," except when i use my own sim card, which then it just starts up right away w/o asking for a code or anything and goes right to the time zone screen. so basically, it looks like the phone only recognizes my sim card. is there anyway around this so that my friend can get his sim card to work in my n93?? we're both on t-mobile and everything

that sounds very possible. i'll have to retreive the phone tomorrow and see if thats the case. thanks angel, big fan of your reviews. now do the e90 for me!! haha

i use the term reviewer loosely i suppose. "tester" might be a better word, but i paid careful attention to your n93 first impressions before i bought it ,and now the n95. except this time i might skip on the n95 in favor of the e90

Hi iii6t,

Sorry if this sounds stupid but if it is the Sim card unlock code isn't the default for that 0000 as 12345 is the security lock code if I'm not mistaken.

thanks for the replies, i'll try out both of those methods and let you guys know tomorrow. i sold the phone to my friend, so i havent been able to get my hands on it yet to try and fix it, but i will report back tomorrow after i see him

ok so i did try the two methods, and no cigar. angel, you were right, the "lock if sim changed" option was "on" but before icould change it to "off" i needed to enter the "unlock code" which kind of puts me bcak to square one. "Ive tried 12345, 00000, and 0000, none of which have worked. any further suggestions?"

hmm, seems like someone changed the code then...all u can really do now is change the code via other methods. I am not sure if a flash would help.

default code is ALWAYS 9999. try that. if that dont work im out of ideas. 9999 works for my sharp 903, my mom's panasonic vs3 and my n73.

only possible thing i can think of is someone did change it. i was reading the FAQs on the nokia site, and it says if i do a "software update" everything resets, including the unlock code. how do i go about doing this update/

that link would be awesome, thanks. and heres the FAQ i was reading. hopefully it does what it says it does. http://europe.nokia.com/faqsearch/ShowQA?id=57021&prod=2132&ch=-10&si=0&reg=4&adv=false&cat=6&qt=code
