Nokia N8 Unlocked-Unbranded now available in Canada

What's the point in using Purolator if it takes >1 week for delivery, yeesh. Might as well just use mail. I guess my phone must be making its way around the country by horse-drawn carriage or something.

Yes, I had the correct email address. The first time I cancelled my order I got a response like, "OK, cancelling the order."

Hopefully my experience with them was an isolated incident.

Yep, the replacement Newegg.CA is sending using Purolator for my DOA N8 seems to be stuck in NY! Almost be quicker if I walked down to NY and picked it up myself!

On the other hand, I've been following the return of my DOA N8 going back by UPS and it's going a LOT faster! Also UPS web tracking seems to give more details with more frequent updates.

On the "good news" side, today Purolator delivered the Kingston 32GB Class 4 microSDHC I bought from Newegg.CA at the same time I bought my DOA N8; it had been stuck in LA for several days. So when the replacement N8 does arrive I'll be able to try the 32GB microSDHC card in it right away.

The N8 is now listed on Rogers website as being available.

Not sure if this is unlocked or unbranded. Might want to ask that before buying, if that is important to you.

Heard they have the silver, and dark grey ones in.

$79.99 on select 3-year plans
$449.99 No Term

Announced on Roger's blog like page:
http://redboard.rogers.com/2010/point-click-yes-nokia-n8-available-exclusively-from-rogers/

Note, link to the phone on the Roger's site is broken, but guy in the comment section of that blog page, said they are working on fixing it.

Mined Fired up sans SIM, there is a hard reset technique to fire them up that you might have to try. or hold the power down for 10 seconds i think is the 'hard off' option

As posted in the official N8 thread, I have decided to RMA the phone bought from Newegg.
After 3 days of use, the phone suddenly 'clicks' when the screen vibrates.

Thanks to those who gave a wonderful review about Newegg's RMA process.

I just did the same, hope it comes by friday as well I have to travel next week, it'll give me a chance to try out the Tmobile 3g again :) My e72-2 doesn't do 3g on my US Tmobile SIM ( due to frequencies ). should be nice :) I hope i don't get too much buyers remorse off this one, I was going to wait until it price dropped some but the e72 makes me angry

Figure i'll give Nokia another shot to.... abandon me firmware wise ( as they have done with my E70, N95-3, N82 and E72 although I've only been waiting 1.5 months since the v51 came out for the E72.. and it's STILL not available for my product code..)

I expect good things from the N8 though :)

Man I can completely relate to the online tracking fun. I find FedEx gives me the most updates/bang for my tracking dollar, closely followed by UPS. I've only used airmail once from china and it has some sort of tracking but not much. I've got a cool tracking app for my iPhone I should look for a Symbian version of "Deliveries".

Where are the N8s made? China or Finland?
I just bought an unlocked unit from a guy on Craigslist and was surprised to see Made in China.
i thought the higher end products were still made in Finland.

Love the fact newegg.ca pays for shipping to send the item back. I've never heard of an online retailer providing that.

I went to the UPS Store yesterday, and said I wanted to send with insurance, to make sure, and the women there said, I would need to pay for a whole new shipping. Went back home, phoned newegg.ca, and they said that insurance is covered under their account, so went back and shipped it via their shipping label. It's UPS standard shipping, so 4 days to ship from Vancouver, so will get their Friday.

newegg.ca indicates it takes 2 to 5 days to process a return, and so I guess it will be about 2 weeks from now when I get my replacement.

Oh man i think i am gunna buy the N8 from newegg, thats fantastic, i would make NCIX price match normally, but seeing as newegg accepts returns/refunds, much better even though i have an NCIX in my town that i could drive to and pick up...

Mine just arrived. Does not power up also. I will plug it in for an hour.

Awesome build quality on this phone. Probably one of the best build's I have ever felt in a handheld device. Solid, and yet not too heavy. It's like the Ferrari of phones.

Where are you getting that its unlocked and unbranded? i read nothing that would allude to this, in fact from what i have been reading its very much locked and branded.

Yeah, i was actually just reading through NCIX's policy and they seem similar

"7 Day Replacement warranty for Dead on Arrival phones. 30 Day Repair warranty for defective phones after returned after 7 days. Repair may take up to 4 weeks for testing and replacement/repair. Replacement can not be exchanged for a different model."

haha. i got the same thing. last i checked it was on its way to my house. i do appreciate all the emails newegg.ca sends with confirmations and what not, great for records. i hope the tracking update tells me if the guy stopped for lunch and what he had.:hehehe:

two that don't power up thats all bad :( mine only had 2 battery bars left on it when it fired up so maybe because of some cold etc the battery didn't have enough charge to go. Are you holding the power button down for 3-4 seconds to turn it on or just quick pressing it? ( I'm guessing your holding it down for a few seconds but you never know ).
