Nokia N8 Pre-Ordre starts today USA

But what's the difference? The old data plan is $15/mo and the new plan is also $15/mo from what I understand. Sure its 2GB but that shouldn't even be close to reachable for most all of us

I have a job and the price tag won't kill me. I think I may just pull the trigger just so I can be the first (and only stupid person that would want a nokia after all their nonsense) person that I know that has one....or if it outright fails when it shows up then I won't feel bad moving on to android for a while.

my iphone 3G is over 2 years old--understandable that it's going to be slow w/ its 424mhz processor.
but, at least apple gave the option to upgrade to iOS4

If that's true, I would buy a subsidized N8 variant, just hoping it doesn't get water down..but if it goes under $450 here in the US, I would buy one unlocked and not get in contract with AT&T.

I think Nokia would do good if it did get into AT&T with all the customers here in the US. Verizon seems to be doing the same with Motorola, Sprint and TMO I'm not a fan of.

I'm hoping to get an N8 by October, but if it did come with a Meego N9 by the holiday, I guess I can hold on to my X6 a bit longer ...can't wait for Nokia World to hear the announcements

If Nokia wants to break into the US market I think its smart of them to get a huge carrier subsidy to get their name out their to the "main stream" market. People here at HoFo are just a handful compare to people who buy subsidy phones and they don't understand the reason for buying an Unlocked phone.

lol it may well be an obsolete OS, and even a mediocre phone (I doubt it) but yeah, lots of 'mid-range' devices with 12mp cameras and xenon flash. lulz. The haters around here are hilarious with the hyperbole. :D

$450 is a good value for it, but yeah $550 is pushing it.

thinking amazon will probably do this for $450 as well, since i have prime and they don't charge tax, that's what i'll be using when they finally stock the product

Tell me of one Nokia phone that had bed reception?
I didn`t say that because they are the first one so they must be one of the best, I look at Nokia history of making phones that have no reception issues and I can tell from it that they make the best reception phones.
I will be Nokia fanboy until somebody convince me that some else can make better overall phone, I don`t care about UI and all apps I need exist for Symbian.

For At&t to pick-up N8, Nokia will have to:
1. Remove bands for other carriers (with software or hardware changes)
2. Remove front camera
3. Disable FM transmitter
4. Remove OviMaps (maybe)

Dont think I'll be preordering one especially since only the grey one is available. Next theres really no incentives to preorder it. If maybe there was a discount or thrown in accessories or something then maybe. Still very much interested in the phone. Seems it will suit my needs. Really will do everything I need/want. Cant wait to try one out.

You'll see them cheaper Im sure from other retailers.

None of this really matters anyway. I think Meego is Nokia's shot, really, at a U.S. comeback. The N8 will likely only do N97 Mini/X6 numbers States-side, and the Nokians probably already have that in their financial estimates.

Patience is a virtue here..no reason to rush into an order for this thing until the real reviews hit..and I mean from the posters here. Amazon will have it..new egg..shopblt..on and on...I figure by end October would be a good time to either jump or move on to something else. But in any event..for me the N97 has to go at some point soon

Me too. Although I will add the 3.99 for one day shipping. I actually contacted Amazon to find out if they had any inclinations when it would come. I got the fairly common brain dead CS answer saying they didn't have it in stock but they had several other Nokias if I was interested. The whole point was that when wrote to them I told them I knew it wasn't in stock but asked if they heard when it might arrive?
