NOKIA E71: needs Chinese language support

Hello!

I just bought an E71 from Rogers and I can't seem to get the chinese support to work. I followed the steps to the letter and it's just not working. Please help.

I have just purchased the Nokia E71 from Best Buy. It's E71-2 model which is the North American 3G Band. I have downloaded the text to speech programs and they work great to speak un-decoded (Monster Characters) Chinese characters in Cantonese or Madarin very well. I also really want the E71 to few Chinese, is there anyway to do it? I know iPhone 3G is the best in terms of multi lingual, but Nokia's business phone should also support that natively.

"FAILURE: Submitted .sis file uses uses capabilites that were not selected"

please help? is there other way to sign in the fontrouter file?
 
1. you could flash your firmware to asian edition. you might first using NSS to change your product code to asian or HK one, then use Nokia software update to get the asian firmware.
2. if you don't want void your warrenty, you might try fontrouter. http://fontrouter.oasisfeng.com/ (chinese)

The built-in web browser doesn't support GBK encoding web pages, it only works when the site is coded by unicode. Try some other web browser application which has the GBK Chinese encoding, like Opera mini or UCWEB. I have had same problem as you previously, but now am quite happy with above 2 browsers viewing Chinese websites.
 
Right below Application upload button, you should have a area to ask you for Capability information
[Select all] [Clear all]

Do select all.

Try it again.
 
Also I'm concern about the 3G in North America. I really need that, so will flashing or converting to support Chinese Language cause any 3G signal problem?

Also, is there a way for me to backup the NA firmware so I can restore it anytime I want in case of warranty?

I'm new to Nokia Symbian OS.

What is the use of FontRouter?

Do you know where I can go to download the Asian Flash?
Also a link to the procedure on changing the code and the hardware equipment that I must need.
I only have the USB cable

Yes, it did! I installed AC's 4 files on my e71-2 (N.Amer. firmware, device languages = English/French/Spanish) and it worked like a champ. I can read Simplified Chinese now in Gmail attachments, and on websites (I tried Baidu.com for a test). Thanks so much!

I applied to A4, per the 2d post instructions, for the Chinese writing software. I will update later this week to see if I am on their list.

How to enable Chinese text entering for E71-2. I assume you can read Chinese so I won't done the translation for you. Here are the steps.

1. Go to this link to request a copy of the A4 software. This software will allow you to entering English, TC and SC with little efforts.

You will need your IMEI number again. When done, press the sent button. You will get a confirmation screen. Now, wait until Friday.

2. Use this link to check if your IMEI number are being added to the released software.

Use Control F to search your IMEI. it will tell you if you are in and in which group.

3. On this same page, there are the download link, download the according to the group reference no.

4. Bluetooth it over to your phone, install to the phone memory.

5. On this same page, you can see the instruction on how to setup and use.

after installing this, during a SMS, when i wana type in english, is there anyway to do it? i can't seem to find the option to change it back to english, its always stuck in chinese

anyone else having the same problem?
 
What is NSS? I'm too new to Symbian so I have no clue what you are talking about. All I need is just to display Chinese.... so much work.
 
Is this the best solution to get the native nokia dictionary application to display Chinese language characters? Currently it just displays boxes.
