Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

Well that clinches it... my keyboard looks nothing like that... Upon closer observation I feel I really should have known; a lot of options begin with a lower case letter and I just noticed an option that reads "Organise".

Am I completely screwed now? What would you guys do?

Has anyone gotten the 5800 through Rogers in Canada recently? I think they now include the car-mount kit (but without the car charger) which they didn't included before. Also, is it supposed to include a DVD, which has the OVI SUITE software? Mine does not have the DVD even though on the outside of the box it says it should.

Well as soon as I connected my phone to my laptop and opened PC Suite, it said there was an update to version 7.1.30.9. So I updated PC Suite first and then opened NSU. The firmware update was found right away. My search on my phone seems to take much longer now with the new firmware.

I know, it's surprising they updated the Navi first, since I doubt it sold anywhere near the numbers the XM did. Then again, that may very well be why. Upgrade the lower popularity model first, so you will have less people screaming in the event of major problems. LOL!

That what's strange. The 0574994 40.2.005 is officially available from NSU. NSU and the firmware file are what bricked the phone. It's not like I used some strange method like JAF or Phonenix to forcibly install it either. The fact that JAF couldn't install the 0574994 firmware either leads me to believe that the files that Nokia has uploaded to the NSU server are actually corrupt.

Unless u try to accept the phone for what it is it will be hard to like and that is its just plain mediocre others are all hyped by the screen because it cannot be the ui at all. :buddies:

When I set ringtone for a contact it says the ringtone is set (I go into contacts and see that it has changed) - but never changes, still same as general ring tone when that particular contact calls. Anyone know if this is a general bug or if I am doing something wrong?

After that one 5800 firmware update, don't the 5800 and N97 have the same processor speed and amount of RAM (RAM was always the same)? And yeah, if the N97 is running some widgets in addition to other stuff, then it would make sense for it to be slightly slower.

i don't know if this is mentioned before, but if you want the internet radio then go to real player --> streaming links --> options --> new link...just the type the web add!

I have the 5800 Nav U.S. version using it with AT&T. I need to travel overseas and I plan to get a local SIM card. Do I need to do anything special before I change the SIM cards so that the phone works normally when I return? I'm wondering about settings and configurations. I think I need to run Setup once I switch the SIMs so that I select the appropriate carriers and services.
