They seemed to have dissapeared on mine too, but it no longer asks for them if I try to check for an update and checking goes through fine. Maybe it buries them into the unknown.
So since I had to send in my N97 to repair I popped my sim back into the 5800 and updated the FW to V31. I am so disappointed that there are:
no widget support
no kinetic scrolling
no favorite contacts
no select checkmark in gallery to select multiple items
no auto full screen in web
no email on the home screen
no letters on dial number screen
This is just a short list of the features that I love and use all the time on the N97 and I thought for sure that they would have been included in the last couple of FW updates for the 5800. It would be a decent phone if they added the above features and I don't think that it would be that difficult to put them on the 5800. I thought there was talk of putting widgets and kinetic scrolling on this thing well over 6 months ago. I swear, you have to buy a 3 year old Nokia phone to get the best out of it!
Has anyone else noticed this with the 5800 camera?
I always do a half-press before taking a photo to do the autofocus thing. Yesterday though, I repeatedly just messed around with autofocus without actually taking a picture. Every time I half pressed and let it focus, the zoom bar would appear and zoom in by one. This happened again and again and again until it went to max zoom. What's the deal?
I couldn't replicate the problem today in my room; it seems like it only does that when you're outside in wide open spaces. I'm puzzled
I've read many reviews about this phone and very much like the features! (and the price)
But is it worth buying it now? I mean its released in 2008 and it seems a bit old now. But I cant find another phone with similar spec and price range like this one either. Can anyone give me some facts if I should buy this phone...
Errm. . . .oookay. There's plenty people still using it,me included, and thoroughly enjoying it, havent hacked, or put a custom FW on mine . Patiently waiting for N8 now,but my 5800xm has been an excellent device, and will be my back-up for sure when i get N8.
are you using the card that came with the phone? my card worked with every nokia phone. but if i try a winmo phone, or ps3 it messes it up. on my computer, it doesn't even autoplay like everything else. but after i formatted, everything works. also my phone crashes less and i don't get the "out of memory as much" anymore. i don't see how it's related to the phone, but figured you might want to try it.
and it disappears on the day of the event? that makes no sense. i don't even have an option to enable it on my phone with both the contacts and shortcut bar on
oh i gotcha, yeah i was actually really asking. anyway this example honestly is not very good. i dont know why the text is so big, the end result is that the same amount of texxt can be seen on a 5800 as on that phone you posted. but even if they used that space more efficiently and REDUCED the text size, the keyboard is still extremely small and its in portrait view anyway. i think this just proves that the 5800 doenst have any options available; its virtual keyboard is designed to the max limits possible. and the fact that samsung used s60v5 and has the same keyboard layout tells me that other manufacturers cant do anything either.
