Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

well yea, it's to be expected. the 5800 is a mid-range music phone for the masses. not for typical business users. can't really expect much out of this phone really. i didn't, and it surpassed a lot of my low expectations for it already.

What are some of everyone's favorite apps? I went on the Ovi Store site and saw all these cool apps, but then noticed it assumed I was using a 6300 (and possibly from the UK), so when I figured out how to change it to 5800 a lot of them were gone.

I know there are 3rd party apps but something makes me warm and fuzzy about official apps, and I just find it weird that in the 5800 section there is nothing when I search ESPN, but in the first page (with the 6300) it was featuring more than one ESPN app like Soccernet

They are 2 different products aimed at different things. Opera mini is only a java app that uses a proxy. Opera mobile is a full browser. So i use opera mini for most of my browsing and forum posting as its quicker from the proxy. If i ever need full browser functions like my banking website, or sites with drop down menus and i need a fuller web experience, then i use the built in browser or opera mobile.

I think a re-install is a waste of time. What Cellular-Decay has described to you is downloading voice with street names from the phone. You seem to have only tried downloading from PC side. The PC side map loaders don't show the voice with street names.
If you can connect your phone via wifi and set that connection on the phone for Maps, you can download the voice with Street Names without having Data on the account.

I have a quick question. Can I use my 5800 to play music on my Laptop via Bluetooth? I was able to easily play music from my old N85 on my laptop's speakers, but I can't get it to work with the 5800. Any help?

it must be the profmail and constantly having to check the emails. I have had superb battery life...but then again i have not set my email up yet.

I'm located here in the northeastern part of the United States and I want to buy a screen protector and a rubber silicone case for my Nokia 5800. I want both of these items to be excellent quality.
I came across 2 websites that sell these 2 items, but I'm not sure which site is more reputable. The 1st site is CLARIVUE and the 2nd is PDAIR. I've noticed that CLARIVUE is located here in the U.S.A., but it doesn't say where PDAIR is located. Is PDAIR located in Hong Kong?
I want the screen protector to be custom designed and specifically made and to fit my 5800. And the same goes with the rubber silicone case. I want the silicone case to also be custom designed and specifially made for the 5800 too.

Which website is the best place to buy these 2 items from?
Has anybody in here purchased from CLARIVUE or from the other website?
Is the screen protector that CLARIVUE sells custom designed to be an "exact fit" to the 5800? And does CLARIVUE screen protector come with the lint free micro fiber cloth??

And what about the CLARIVUE silicone case for the 5800? Are they any good? I noticed that all of their cases only come in FROSTED WHITE color. Do they have the silicone case for the 5800 in BLACK color? Also, is the soft rubber silicone case that CLARIVUE sells and "exact fit" on the 5800?

Are there any other reputable dealers besides CLARIVUE and PDAIR who are located right here in the United States that sell both the screen protector and the silicone case for the Nokia 5800? Just to let you know, I am not interested in buying any of these 2 items directly from EBAY. Please help me out here.

when using opera mini, and you reply to a post, the text box does let you scroll back thru the text without having to backspace the whole way. however in the face book app you CANNOT do this. so its possible in some parts of the OS, but not others.

so if someone writes all positives than he/she is not a whiner?i guess u haven't used anything outside nokia so its hard for u to compare, i understand! well may be if u shall surf a little more diff forums then it will help u know the diff.
anyway if don't have anything productive to say then atleast do not waste the bandwidth :disappoin

use a light colored theme, white will help out immensely. but yes, i agree it sucks in the sun. a lot of other phones do too. we just manage.

I did the same thing. Made my phone last longer. I also uninstalled it because it eats up half of my ram, and the 5800 sucks at managing memory so i need as much as i can get

I had 24-28mb free on the v51 fw, but on c6 44-48 free, and it seems to crash a lot less when i do mass storage mode, for some reason i had a lot of rebooting when switching to mass storage, and the motion sensor is working a lot better. Currently not using any widgets, and have the home screen on hidden, but need to find out how to make the home screen widgets more transparent.

btw do you know if its possible to have a horizontal wallpaper rather than the vertical wallpaper zoomed in?
