Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

why not voice dial when driving, it already programs all the #'s plus you can pick between home and office even send a message.
To me screen size is i big difference between 2.4 and 2.6 as well as 2.6 and 2.8.

Ditto. Everything was hunky dory until I started Audible Player. I know, Audible doesn't officially support s60v5 (never mind Linux), but I downloaded a version that worked for me. After updating the firmware, starting Audible Player completely freezes the phone every time. I had to pull the battery to get the phone back.

I wish there were an audiobook player for s60 that wasn't Audible. (Nokia Audibooks doesn't work, nor did Scheherezade - a while back)

yea i'm using v11. but the ram available sucks lol i only have like 27mb (with free-isms running and facebook widget). i think i'm going to make a cfw for it when i build my new comp

After a week with the 5800, one of the most disappointing aspects of the phone is not the screen responsiveness or the UI which have been discusss at length, here and on "expert" reviews, but the sunlight legibility of the screen. It is absolutely horrid. Under bright sunlight, the screen is completely washed out. I wonder why more people haven't complained about that.

yea to me it seems the same. not as loud as the n95-4. but i noticed it's because the second speaker is on the bottom of the phone (on the left side). when i hold it in landscape or put the phone down, it's a lot louder than the n95-4 though

i do love the bass though.

yea mines doesn't jump like that. it goes from 4 to 8 to 6 to 2 to 8 lol large jumps. but when i'm in the locations app. i just jumps from 6-8. no more no less. even when it said 0, there were 4 active on the location. so by then i figured the locations app isn't an accurate measurement at all.

Kinetic scrolling is not just when you "flick down and it scrolls down". Its when you "flick down and it scrolls down" .... "and keeps scrolling down with momentum"... (ie, uses what appears to be normal physics. If you flick harder and quicker, it continues to scroll down as if you were pushing a cart on a track....before eventually slowing down to a stop.) That's kinetic scrolling.

we all agree it sucks abou the lack of server profile info on the NAM 5800. Lets hope Nokia simply adds it to the next available firmware update. They could easily do that so, moving forward, NAM 5800 users could use FOTA.

if you like the 5800, i'd spring for the N8. it's like the 5800 but way better. and the battery life is awesome. and if you thought getting a signal was good on the 5800, the N8 blows it out of the water lol at least that's my experience

Does anyones 5800 NAM creek really bad on the mem card sim card side? my new 5800 from dell really creeks and comes thru loud and clear when Im on a call. Otherwise its a great phone.

Edit: Just found the squeak thread. Is this common or should I return?

I tried mobile 10 beta and would get out of memory errors often. It's too bad. I think with the s60 browser the same thing can happen too and it just freezes, then crashes... but it somehow happens less easily in the s60 browser. In Opera it happened so frequently that after 10min I deleted it
