Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

I've been using the 5800 over my e71 for a couple of days now and when I came back to using the e71, it's just night and day. I can't stress this enough. Navigating the internet is 100x faster with the e71 since it has the D-pad. Actually navigating through the menus on the e71 is so much faster over all.

$200 was a good price for the 5800 but I still feel I overpaid for this phone

To all the users that are on the fence about the typing issue....Get a nokia su-8w keyboard. Im not sure if it's discontinued, but if you use the phone on the angled stand from the box and the BT keyboard, this is a non-issue. It also gives you a mini laptop functionality (provided you dont mind busting out the keyboard-LOL) :2thumbs:

I can't find any v.50 NAM cfws. There are some really nice RM-356 cfws out there. When I bricked my phone last month, I had to restore it with v50 RM-356 firmware, since NAM wasn't on v50 yet. After flashing custom RM-356 cfw, I don't want to go back to stock firmware, even if it is NAM.

Kinetic scrolling is when you swipe your finger down while in a list or browsing a webpage and the list or page keeps moving even after your finger has left the screen. The faster you swipe, the faster the list or page moves.

how long did it take to update ota? i tried taking my sim out and go through wifi, and it says "receiving data from nokia" forever now. been like 15 mins. my internet connection isn't that slow. usually nsu would take like 3 mins to dl

is there a way to make the calender to remind you a task or event a week earlier? right now it will show a task or whatever i have in my calender on the home screen like 2 or 3 days prior to the event. thx

I'm really starting to like my 5800. The first 2 days was very frustrating. But now that i've learned many of the quirks, gotten good at clicking links and scrolling the web, installed handy shell and smartlight and taskman etc, i'm really liking this so far. When i go back to my e71 the screen just feels so small and i wanna go back to the 5800. I'm really surprised. Only thing is battery life seems really short.

*ka-THUNK*!

That's the virtual sound of it hitting the virtual wall.

Still no visuals of any kind, just the vibration. If anyone suggests that now I gotta bounce on one foot while reinserting the SIM, I'll hurt ya...virtually, of course!

It's dead Jim, and it's going to Nokia tomorrow.

I have a 5800 that logs in to my Wifi every minute or two. This causes the call\connection log to fill up and stop logging calls. In addition I believe that it may be draining the battery faster than normal.

I have gone through all programs that may access the internet and disabled automatic access.

Anyone experience this and have a solution ?

Thks
