Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

I got to agree, this is the single most retarded thing about the 5800. It doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to change either. Please do something about it before v50 releases Nokia!

That's one way to look at it, but before Nokia where accused for not giving updates and at least now they are. Samsung being one good example where they could probally do wonders with i8910 if they would keep optimizing the OS for the HW, but it haven't really been their strong point.

Can someone tell me if it is possible to select individual text messages for deletion on the 5800? I want to delete some of my messages and don't want to go thru doing it one at a time.

Thanks

I completely agree. I don't know why there are so many people who hate the browser on this phone. Honestly, the web experience is GREAT and easily the best I've ever had on any phone (although admittedly the iPhone is better from when I've tried it in AT&T or Apple Store). This phone on WiFi is simply stunning and plays youtube stuff extremely fast, as well. NOT good for an internet addict LOL you will never get off the d@mn phone!

you won't lose anything. v40 added the homescreen. v50 fixes bugs in v40 and adds more features. they don't take away features.

the cfw for the n97 is not out yet, and it's not even working 100%. you can get the hs and lose everything else like bt and stuff, what's the point lol.

Hey guys, is there a way to clear cache memory on the 5800? Im reading the RAMblow thread for the n97 and im thinking its time for a cleanout. I really websurf on this guy....Just askin...Tom

Has nothing to do with it being a nam version or user agent i don't think. The new nokia email is just screwy and there's a trick to installing it. I installed it on my 5800 nam but don't use it. Symbian guru has a tutorial for installing it i think.

never had a problem with a naming. yes you have to go to app manager to delete apps. i think it would be unsafe to have it on the card, you could delete something accidentally and nothing would work anymore.

the old maps was written over.

to delete old maps, just use the map loader.

It's out for at least one NAM code. I ran the OTA updater on my 5800 last night and got v40. I forget which product code I have on it right now, but I know it's one of the NAM codes.

Ah no worries... I wasn't as specific as I could have been and do see you were accurate if I had been talking about USB. :buddies:

It's everything that connects to the web. Internet, Facebook, etc

Did that live_strong...

If I select Web, it says "connecting" and then asks "Select Connection" with options 'Search for WLAN', 'Internet' or 'WAP Services' every time. My N97 doesn't do that... just says "connecting" and then brings up the page.

I don't know, the phone's browser is pretty damn slow. Loading up a page on hofo takes forever on the native browser.

Then, you have the issue of no scroll bars so you have to scratch ur nail on the screen like 20 times before you reach the top of the page. Kinetic scrolling damn it!!!!

I don't know if it's the browser's efficiency or the CPU, pages just load super slow. I tried to use Yelp the other day (the regular site, not mobile) to find some restaurants to go eat, and all my friends were getting fidgety as it took way too long. This is on 3.5G AT&T.

anyone here have any luck with the latest version of coolsmschat on the phone? i paid for the latest version. it will install, but the program won't open or run. anyone else have a clue?

thanks
