Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

its known that this is the number of satellites, i'm not guessing here. they match up EXACTLY if you can switch back and forth fast enough you will see they change at the same time. its just not signal strength, ask anybody around:D seems pretty obvious too, not sure where you got the idea of "signal strength" for this one.

and the final peice of evidence is that many times i have had that number in google maps show 11 and 12. you are claiming its 1-10 signal strength, but its number of satellites and i have connected to 11 and 12 satellites before on many occasions. and do remember checking the location view and it matched up showing 11 blue connected bars.

Dude I don't get it with your smart dialing and call logs. Why are you manually dialing numbers, who even does that for a known number? I go to my address book, type in the first couple letters of who I'm trying to call, and hit the green call button. If I'm trying to call someone I just talked to, I simply hit the green button at the main standby screen and it jumps straight to call logs, navi down to the name, and hit the green button to execute the call.

No you seem to be average. I just clear cache and reset google every month or 2. I just make sure to install all apps to memory card. My c disk stays the same for the most part because i haven't been using the regular web browser, i've been using opera mini. And my google maps affects c drive because i have it installed there cause it runs smoother there than the memory card.

The more I think about kinetic scrolling, I think it's mostly just a novelty. I'm fast and productive with my 5800 the way it works right now on v31. I'm not sure how much I would truly use it on a day to day basis other than just playing around with it. It's one of those interesting features that really doesn't add that much functionality if you really think about it. For example, if I need to call a contact that is somewhere in the middle of my contact data base, the quick search feature works just as fast if not faster than the kinetic scrolling. What are your thoughts? Is kinetic scrolling really that big of a deal to you?

Have a question about an application thats out there, most of you probably know about it. Its DrJukka's KeyLockClock, the one that shows the time on clicking the Menu button when the device is locked. The application has an option that allows you to continuously display the time when the device is charging. Do you think that enabling this option might lead to "screen burn" and related ghost images? Or is the changing of the time every minute good enough in terms of variability of display to prevent screen burn?

Anyone who's brave and got there NAMs should check which earpiece speakers are on the phones, the defective or nondefective ones.

Also whats the firmware version?

What is the product code of your Roger's 5800.

And if the update is available FOTA, then why don't you just try it for yourself? Dial *#0000# and then use Options, Check for updates. If you don't have a data plan then set up WiFi first.

It was taken by a friend of mine while we were checking out the BlackBerry booth at CES '08.
So anyone havig similar experiences on their 5800s?? :(

Heres a dumb q - where are the yellow smilies for the 5800? Is there something to DL? After the latest firmware, I figured it may sneak in. Guess not. The wink guy, the thumbs up guy. No love for the s60v5? Maybe theres something compatable from v3? Anyone?

I just tried to clear my log counters, and it asks for a lock code... didn't do this before firmware update..
i have no clue what the lock code is.. it doesn't let me type '1' so i can't put 12345, and i also tried 0000 and 00000... anybody know anything??

Edit: Nevermind, i realized u have to hold down the '1' button for it to enter 1... weird... anyway the code was 12345
