Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

Both of these apps need a keyword in the calendar event for it to switch profiles for that meeting. Thats not always practical, as most of the meetings on my calendar are set by others and to expect the same keyword is not feasible. I am looking for a program that will automatically switch profiles for every meeting. I found autoprofiles and it seemed promising, but I installed the trial version and it didnt seem to work very consistently.

Well, I really want to like the NM app, but I still have problems and questions. This morning I couldn't open an email from amazon. When I tried the whole app just closed.

Questions:

1. Why only 3 days synced?
2. Why no home screen notifications when I have a new email? I get a tone, but no icon, no pop up, and no blinking light.

The app looks nice, and the push was fast. HTML was nice, but it's one click away on the built-in client.

Oh and I'm looking for case recommendations. No leather and no hard clear plastic. What do you think about the otterbox cases?

I guess the next step is to try a new cable, but it would be a pretty big coincidence. My aux input works fine cause my xm goes thru it now. Maybe my secondary cable is bad, but thats not something that breaks very easily. I'm wondering if anyone has even gotten their 5800 to work at all.

Yes the pop up menu appears and i've tried every option.

not to be a fanboy either but apple is a software company, so being on top of updates and whatnot for their OS is what they do the best. all their other products run the same basic OS pretty much.

nokia is a hardware company, they are quick to fix hardware issues for their various models. just lacking in the software dept.

i'm sure if apple had to focus on the hardware as well as software, they'd be in the same boat.

As I said in my earlier post (#1608) RM-428 NAM v40 is only available for the 5800 Navigation Edition. If you have a NAM 5800 XpressMusic (product code 0577454) the update is not out yet. If you want it now, then change your product code to the NAM Nav Edition PC 0591814 and NSU will find the v40 update (no FOTA).

do i need data plan in order to send mms on tmobile usa? i don't have any data plan at all and i tried to send a mms today, i noticed there's 80kb send and recieved data on my data packet meter, so is that means i got charged for data usage when i was sending the mms? and i also noticed there's a little E icon under the signal meter when sending the mms.
E = edge, i know that

1. that's right. i did that as well. i went into maploader and loaded the maps i needed into the memory card.
2. i think it's the basic map, no details. if you try to find yourself and you're not connected to the net, you're in the middle of nowhere.
3. sounds about right. i went from 59 to 49. it's the share online thing too that it installs.
4. probably some maps.

as for the C question, the more the merrier.

I picked one up at the Nokia NYC store. Where I used to work had it cheaper but I would not step foot in there, they are probably selling the original defective ones. Anyway, the girl took care of me, she was a sweetheart.

She told me about the $50 amazon download. Ugh, why couldn't it just have been a $50 credit and not just for downloads??

I gave up my HTC Diamond with WinMo 6.5 for this phone and I am so happy I did.

I'm so glad to see this solution - it was a very annoying problem (the only version of Google Maps that I could get was more then a year old).

Actually, I'm having many problems getting applications to work with my 5800 XM. Similar to the Google Maps problem, for example, is the problem that I can't get the right version of Nokia Messaging for my phone. I wonder if some of these problems are because I have the NAM version? So the user-agent of the phone is probably different then for the 'normal' version of the phone? Is there some way that I can change the built-in browser's UA to be the same as the for the 'normal' 5800? I doubt it.

I've encountered this before with Nokia phones. Unlike Apple, they sell different models in N.A., and they sell such tiny numbers here that the N.A. version gets almost no support and doesn't work with many applications. If I were smarter I would boycott Nokia phones until they ended this stupid practise.

I was far more comfortable with the nice big buttons on the E66 over the constant miskeying I was doing on those tiny E71 buttons. I simply wasn't faster. The only time I loved it was when entering passwords.

I updated my 5800XM to OS 51.2.007.263.04 in offline mode this morning. I just use the phone late at night to surf the web when I'm in bed. I used the phone for a year, liked it, but the hardware broke down a bit and I discovered that I like a Qwerty Keyboard better than a touchscreen so I bought an E-71-2 about 6 weeks ago for $229 on Newegg and love it. With the exception of the screen resolution, the E71 just kills the 5800XM.

He will have to try the 3 finger salute to hard reset the phone. And make sure you try it many times until it works! Doesn't always work the first time.

He asked for the cheapest price currently, can you stop being a jacka$$ and read before trying to brag?

Anyways, rebate is ending soon, so if you want the phone with the rebate, have to move quickly now.

You need the RM-428 Product Code ... however, I don't ~think~ you can get it using *#0000# .... but you CAN get it either 1) under the battery on the inner label or 2) on the boxflap of the phone.
