Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

The stereo speaker distortion thing has to be software related. If you start a track, hear it distort, click the volume down 1, then right back up, it goes away and sounds awesome.

My earpiece is excellent. thank the lord. LOUD and clear. Having a bad earpiece, quiet or crappy, is the main reason i have returned phones in the past like, such as the N79 most recently.

The 5800 is reall a GREAT phone, to you know, make calls n stuff. which is #1 priority to me.

Quick question ..Is anyone running the SU-8W keyboard with the 5800 NAM ? I grabbed one and installed the driver from the nokia website. I used V3 and it said that the phone wasnt supported. I installed anyway and it works. But...I seem to have bluetooth connectivity issues. The keyboard loses connection after a few minutes sometimes. Im wondering if this is the keyboard or the driver ? Thanks much :2thumbs: Tom

i dont under stand the need for a dpad on a touch screen like this. a dpad is needed when you can press hold and move. i love a dpad for my tilt. dont know how i will like the touchpro2 as i am avid user of my dpad's but on this phone i find it not a problem what so ever to not use one. the pick works great as well.

Anyone had issues with short battery life? I started using my 5800 NAM yesterday to play music. I played music for about an hour going to work. Then, in the afternoon when I got on the subway, I noticed I only had 2 bars left when I started playing music again. I have BT on all day, did around 30 txt messages, have profimail set to check every half hour and I have Best Reminder running in the background. The last couple of weeks, I've had all these running without playing music and the battery bar doesn't even lose 1 bar.

Has anyone had this issue with playing music on the 5800?

OK, forget about the TTS i guess i can live without it. Does anyone know what cause the phone not to vibrate when someone is calling you? i set my profile to normal with vibration only, but for some reasons it won't vibrate, i still can receive a call like i was on silent mode and i need to restart the phone in order the make it vibrate again, it's so weird.

I keep hearing everyone say that you use the red (End) key to close apps. It doesn't work for me on any app that I have tried. Whether the music player, the new Photo Browser, the web, or others, whether I either just push, or push and hold, the red key does nothing. Is something wrong with my phone? I am on the default theme. V20 firmware.

I won't disagree with most of what you said. But I think if you gave it enough time you will find you can do most things with the phone one-handed. I didn't get started using it until Tuesday and I'm getting pretty proficient at one-handed scrolling, etc. I'm beginning to get the hang of texting with it, too. That's the area that I feel is the weakest, but that may improve as I get more experienced with it.

My phone won't vibrate for calls, I can't use my personal MicroSD card (The one that comes with it works though), and I can't use the phone on my WAP data plan. Anyone know if I should seek a replacement, I had to unlock it from Rogers.
