Sounds to me like you need to clearance covers...loosen pushrods...wait...let lifters pump back up...start pushrod adjustment over.
Your pushrods are tight because the valves are sticking because of clearance issues.
If the boxes are clearanced and you adjust the pushrods correctly, after about 5 minutes of letting the lifter bleed down, the pushrod should turn no matter what brand they are.
Be certain you're adjusting 1 pushrod at a time, waiting 5-10 minutes before going to next one.
Also, that your cam is in the correct "spot" when adjusting.
You can roll the cams fairly easy with spark plugs out, in the final trans gear...by rotating back tire.
I feel confident these are the areas you need to focus on.
