No MMS on BlackBerry Pearl with unlimited messaging?

The messages with D's next to them would be only PIN messages by default. SMS and MMS will have a D next to them (for delivered) if you have delivery confirmation turned on from the Options screen.

Is this true?
I have Cingular, and the data plan is THIRTY dollars/month.
Just so I can send one or two mms messages a month?

I just left my RAZR behind and switched to a Pearl because my employer paid for the phone "upgrade" - but they do not pay for my phone service.
I've also got no need for internet access.. .I'd rather check my Email on my PC at home or work (I'm a good typist, typing on a little keypad would get frustrating I'm sure).

The main reason I wanted the Pearl was because I've been sending a ton of text messages, and typing messages on a number keypad seems really dumb... the Pearl has a better keypad, and still fits in my pocket without a bulge just like my RAZR did (sorry, belt-clip guys, not going that route).

But, this "upgrade" means my phone does LESS than my RAZR did, which seems asinine.
I love the better camera, better screen, better keyboard.
And, I'd be challenged to return it because it was purchased on my boss's card.

I would consider a one-time $30 upgrade, if the service book for mms (and the capability) remained after I cancelled my data plan, though.
Is that true?

cheating the system will not work anymore. Now if the door gets shut it will be closed on the network. however TMO is now giving customers who do not have the data plan a free feature that will allow you to mms/ IM without the 19.99 internet feature. Still cannot send email or surf web but it helps.

my phone doesnt get video from verizon customers but im wondering if its just because it has a different media processor then the other phones. or am i just making myself look silly :P but i still get picture messaging.

I don't know if any one has covered this in this thread yet but I'll recap it any way just to be sure.

In order for your blackberry to know how and were to send an mms it needs a service book and the only way for it to get that service book is to have a blackberry dataplan.

Sorry but this is this is just the way the blackberry world turns.

A solution would be to call in have the bb data added, let it provision for the 72 hours and you'll get your service books then call and have the data removed. Not sure this would work but it's worth a try.

Dont be mad because of SmartAccess. It's your credit man. I think it's a pretty good idea. I mean if you or your Mom has limited or poor credit you can still get a post-paid account with out an outrageous deposit. TMO has got it right with this compared to other companies who charge $100-400 for deposits.

Sprint wanted a $100 dollar deposit for God knows what reason from me. I have great credit. No one else ever wanted/needed one.

But to each his own.

They were going to put me on that. But I kept on telling them I want THAT phone with unlimited text and internet about 5 times. Then after a while they said "well we can put you on it but you will have to put 250 down right now." so they added my blackberry plan and I got what I want. Just keep on bugging them then they will give in.

Okay there is a new solution for MMS Messaging and Instant Messenger without the need for a Blackberry data plan. Call "611" and tell the t-mobile rep that you want the "Blackberry feature enabler" added to your account (it is free). Now you will have "Compose MMS" in your message list. You can now send pictures without the data plan! woo hoo!

19.99 is very cheap, compare to cingular that i've just sign up a two years contract with, and if i am to get the data plan it would be 44.99, which is over board, now i don't like my black berry no more cause i don't see anything special aobut it..

ok i am having the same problem.
I have cingular, i have the BIS plan, i have all the features enabled on my phone.
with MMS, i can only send picture/video/music files throught MMS but not recieve. why? i have the BIS plan for 29 dollars a month but how do i get it so i can RECIEVE mms messages?

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

Do you have both service books for mms? Should be two. Do you have the top two settings under mms in options set to always? Have you sent yourself a test mms message?

i dont know, but i got a text a while back from t-mo and it said to turn off and on my bb p and when i did it gave me the tzones icon yahoo, msn, icq, and aol messengers with free pictures messages a more free services!

I've done all of the above and still dont receive MMS. I've only got 1 service book for MMS. I tried resending with no luck still only one shows up.

I pay for the blackberry minutes + mail BIS plan, plus an extra messages plan that includes MMS... unlockd curve, not a pearl but still. it should work

I cant even SEND mms. It just says "Failed to send message."

i had this problem also and i went to cingular and after an hour the guy figured out how to fix it... and i do NOT have the data plan... it is possible... im just not sure how... when i added the new and updated package though... i lost it... so im actually about to go back up there and have him fix it for me! ill ask him how he does it and hopefully i can help everyone!
