No Ducati Works WSBK for 2011

Ducati developed WSBK bikes first and used that experience and a new set of rules to build another race bike, you can see that, right? They had the technology before they went GP racing. New Moto GP technology is a secret and wont be making it to a Ducati dealer near you.

I know my bike was an evolution of years of racing....made affordable for the market. That has more value to me than a 136kg 240hp digital master piece I can only veiw from 15ft.

I reckon they are going to let the 1198 sell on its pedigree rather than put it up against the Aprillia and BMW in 2011. In the mean time they can use the resources from WSBK to develop the 1198's replacement and introduce that in 2012, and I'm guessing its going to be a V4.
Time will tell. Sad, but not the end of the world. Whatever the coverage may be like, WSBK is more relevant to me than MotoGP, and Superstock even more so, although GP is usually more entertaining to watch, but not always...

I don't miss MotoGp since I haven't watched one race this year, next year might be different with the GOAT on a Desmo. As for SBK, I get real cantankerous if I forget to record it.

Rumour mill says that Ducati are to stick with the v-twin for the 2012 replacement. Sure, it will be rotated rearwards for a shorter wheelbase, have a monocoque frame instead of the steel trellis, but still a v-twin.

I can't see how it will be competitive against the all-conquering 4cyls.

A V4 would make more sense, and logic would suggest a simplified (no titanium/exotic materials) version of the MotoGP 990V4 fitted to a production bike, would be the way to go.

Aprilia has achieved miracles with this formula, Ducati would be silly to ignore what they already have!

i wouldnt either..

Del Torchio's press release from when he took over from Federico Minoli in may 2007(yea i know i say new guy, to me he is)..he was on the board for a while, he is still 'new', in comparison to the work, effort, passion dedication, wisdom and time put into the company by Federico Minoli..

its a bit of a turn around..

Good find JDW

If you read the last paragraph in the article it states, "Ducati's desmodromic valve operation will continue to allow high revs by twin-cylinder standards, delivering more power even with the 50mm restrictors that the new engine will have to wear under present WSBK rules."
