Night of the Demon Dvd realease

Check the opening titles. Do they go off the edge of the picture and do all the actors look like hunchbacks? If they do then you have a very forgiving nature.:)
Unless you're one of those people who stretches the 4:3 to fit widescreen and thinks that's how it's supposed to look.:D
I've managed to locate a correctly framed copy by "other means". If I can do it, why can't the BBC?

I'm sure the Region 2 collectors edition will be along in the next few months. However, if you're desperate you can buy the Region 1 release (non-SE). :)

Already have a copy of this so didn't bother watching it when it was on last night. Awesome film!

Is Night of the Eagle out as well?

It was on TV a few weeks back and we just got around to watching it on Sky+. Loved Godzilla showing up at the end, but mostly it was of it's time. Atmospheric and enjoyable, but about as scary as an episode of the Shaun The Sheep. Can't say as I'd want to rush out an buy the DVD of it. It would just never some off the shelf again. One of those ones that if you were insanely rich you might like a copy to go in your library for completeness sake.

Ahh, you are right, they have the incorrect aspect ratio for the first few minutes. As soon as the demon appears it corrects itself. Nothing was cropped though.

I record on my pc using a freeview dongle, so I have the software to correct it (although it would have been better if the whole film was shown that way).

screencaps:

I didn't bother with it after squashed Harrington left squashed Karswell's house. I wonder how it happened?
The end letters of some credits were definitely missing e.g " Music composed by Lifton (actually Clifton) Parker", "Music conducted by Muir Mathieso (actually Mathieson)"
However, I was able to get a decent, correctly framed copy thanks to this annoying glitch so it all enRAB reasonably happily.

How odd. I wonder if it was some kind of glitch in my Sky + or with the digital transmission. The opening titles and scenes were completely cattled when I played it back. I was expecting the heavy rain to have broken up the picture but this was something new.
Still a great movie, even with its rubbish demon puppet, imposed, I believe, against the director's wishes.

What's the difference between Curse of the Demon and Night of the Demon? I always thought that Curse of the Demon was the US title of Night of the Demon, but the region 1 DVD cover suggests they are 2 different films, and the running time of the DVD is 178 minutes. Are they different cuts of the same film?

A mate recorded it on video. We're going to watch it on Halloween.
I know that Jacques Tourneur didn't want to show the demon, but I really like the rubbish puppet!

Same film...two different versions.

'Night' is the 95min UK release; 'Curse' is the 82min US release.

Not watched 'Curse' so can't say what the differences are.
