Nickelodeon Acquires "Winx Club"; Will Co-Produce Seasons 5 and 6

Who said Winx Club seasons five and six were going to be in CGI? The trailer is in normal animation on the Nickelodeon page.

I'm excited for this, but I'll probably skip the CGI specials --- CGI isn't really my thing.

One of the trailers I posted earlier in this thread.

EDIT: So I see they had presumably added Winx stuff to their site... only to watch a video labeled with Winx and it said it was a Mr. Meaty video and clicking on it showed me a clip from Zevo-3... ????? I hope this is a sign of things to come... once they get it fixed! lol

The fact that Nick is providing their own English version for Season 4 is probably because Nick and Rainbow decided on making the show a co-production for Seasons 5 and 6. That means Seasons 5 and beyond will now truly have one English-language cast in the world, but because Season 4 has already aired in most places around the world, making a US-exclusive English language version is probably a necessity unless Nick wants to go through the process of recasting after Season 4. Yes, Nick is spending money to do so, but the investment they've placed in Rainbow and the 'Winx Club' show makes me believe they think it's worth it.

I actually just saw a commercial on Nick for Winx Club. I thought it was pretty cool. The voice for Stella worked pretty well. Bloom's voice sounded a tad too deep for my tastes, but it might sound better when I see the actual episode. They referred Alfea as a college for fairy, which I believe that was in the original version since the 4Kids dub said it was a high school. I'm still hoping that they'll eventually air the complete first three seasons, but at least they're promoting the first hour special in June.

Those were pretty nice promos. The first one does make me think that they will air the first movie at some point, possibly before they premier season four. It also mentioned that there are over one hundred episodes in the series, which makes me hope that they will air the first three seasons at some point after they air those hour specials and start season four. I really hope that they use that theme song since it's really catchy and has a pretty good beat. I wonder if they are going to use the Rai dub after all since there weren't any different voices for the characters who did speak. At least from what I could tell, but it could be that they just are using them for the trailer. Still, at least we know when they'll start airing Winx Club on Nick.

I just saw a commercial for it, apparently a one hour special will be premiering in June. The voices were ok, but I think the 4kids voices were a bit more fitting because they sounded a bit more like teenage girls, Bloom sounded a bit deep, Stella sounded good, that may just be me liking some of the valley girl speak in the 4kids voice, but once I hear more of them I'm sure I'll like them much more then the 4kids ones. I am glad Nickelodeon seems to be retaining the names and music and has a much more accurate script then Nickelodeon it seems. I'm glad they aren't just using certain people to voice characters because they're famous. I may just be getting confused but, I thought Alfea was a high school not a college.

From Ariana Grande's Twitter:

"Last night, during the new Victorious episode, there was a commercial for a new Nickelodeon animated series called The Winx. Did you see it?"

"Well I'm very excited because I get to be a part of it! It's my first time being a cartoon & I'm loving it. I play princess Diaspro. ♥"

"I know The Winx is already huge in Europe but I hope everyone in America who's new to The Winx loves it as much as I do! It airs in June. ♥"

So yeah, it's confirmed she is in.

Yeah, I can't see her playing Diaspro either. I would have figured she would be in the main cast as either Flora or Stella given her own voice and her character on Victorious. Still, at least she seems pretty excited to be a part of the series, she is aware of how successful the series is in Europe and would like other people to get into it here.

I hope not. IMHO, renaming the show would be both unnecessary and disrespectful. "Winx Club" is a perfectly exceptable name in any country, and in any language.

Since I didn't see that episode, I'm guessing this is the same promo on Nick.com. You can hear a small snippet of a new theme song. It is very strange to hear Bloom in a new voice after all the years the 4Kids dub was airing. Plus, the moment where Bloom suggests the name "The Winx," in the 4Kids version of the scene, I distinctly remember, the 4Kids dub made fun of Disney's W.I.T.C.H.- nearly six months before their animated TV show would hit the airwaves in December 2004.

While I was kind of hoping for a date earlier in June, it's still nice to see an air date for the first hour-long special. I'm still kind of worried about what they'll cut out of a twenty-six episode long season to make a one hour movie, but it should be interesting all the same to hear the voices for the characters and see how the pacing works. Hopefully, if the ratings turn out well for these hour specials and the new season, they'll be able to air the first complete three seasons on a weekday slot.
