Nickelodeon Acquires "Winx Club"; Will Co-Produce Seasons 5 and 6

Sweet! I saw the promo yesturday, I cannot wait! Im watch'n this and WWE Raw that night! Beats watchin the hub, now that betty is yanked... but i'm glad the 'club is back!

End point. :general:

That sounds like the case since they're going to air both season three and four with their new cast. Hopefully, that does mean that they'd be willing to redub the first two seasons after they air these specials to get to the more recent seasons even faster. I honestly don't know if it has been confirmed yet what they plan on doing with those first two seasons yet. I'm kind of disappointed that they aren't using the Rai Dub voices, especially since I believe that they did use their trailer for the fourth season to start promoting their dub. Though, it's understandable that they'd rather use their own actors to give them some more roles, as well as to have someone kids are more familiar with voicing these characters so that they'd be more interested in watching the series. I wonder who will voice the rest of the Winx Club girls since they only mentioned Bloom and Aisha in the press release. Maybe it's just because I'm used to his character on True Jackson VP, but I'm not sure if I can see Matt Shively voicing Sky. Still, it's better to just wait and see his performance in the special, but it just caught me by surprised the most out of the voice cast that they mentioned.

The more I think about this move, the more I like it. Being on Nickelodeon, this series will get much more exposure than it ever got on 4Kids and, if the dub is good, could really be a hit with those that haven't seen it, along with old fans rewatching it and their younger siblings who might get into it. I especially hope Nick's treatment will smooth out the choppiness the show had on 4Kids. I still like W.I.T.C.H. better, but the show will be a breath of fresh air for me compared to the regular faire that's been available lately.

I'll admit that the character designs, especially for the girls, look awkward. I still remember thinking that they all way too thin when I first saw the show. Even so, I thought that the show was pretty fun. I don't think it's anything mind-blowing or amazing, but I think it's kind of fun to watch. The use of magic is pretty cool and most of the main characters are pretty likable/interesting. Seeing the hour special they have for season one on the 27th might give you a better impression about the show's quality than the promos do.

A small part of it at least. Nick is reducing the 1st and 2nd seasons of the show into four one-hour specials. The first premieres next Monday. They plan to premiere at least one per month. Then seasons three and four will make their way to Nick later this fall. Seasons five and six (the new Nick co-produced seasons) will come in 2012 (and are in CGI). All Winx Club airings on Nick (the one hour specials, plus seasons 3-6) will feature the new Nick voice cast.

Each season has twenty-six episodes and I'm wondering how Nick will shorten the first two season in hour-long specials. While not every episode in each season is significant to the plot, I still can't help but think that these specials might miss some important character development moments, as well as some fun subplots, that they could do within a full season and not within an hour. So, I'm curious how they'll trim down each season in these specials too.

 I never could like the voices for Rai.

Half the cast sounded too similar and to me they really didn't put much into what was happening. The only thing I can compliment them on is keeping close to the original Italian dub. For 4Kids, the lead girls had such distinctive voices, Musa and Flora were my personal fav.

I can understand that. From what I've heard, I just liked the voices for the Rai dub a bit more than most of the ones from the 4Kids dub. I thought most of the voices matched with the character, especially with Stella's voice. Though, I did like Musa, Flora, Bloom and Sky's voices the most of the 4Kids dub. Those voices worked the best for me in terms of matching with their character and putting a good amount of effort into their performances.

I noticed in the first trailer that Layla was called by her Italian name, Aisha. Does this mean that the Layla moniker is going to be officially dropped? I know Nick isn't using the 4Kids voice actors, so does that mean that if/when Nick ever airs the first 3 seasons, that they'll use the new voices and names? I also wonder if this means that Tecna's home realm will be called Zenith rather than 'Techno Fairyland', which was the name given to it in the 4Kids dub, and if Layla/Aisha's home realm will revert back to its' original name, Andros, rather than the 4Kids-imposed name, Tides.
