...so do you. BEV is supposed to carry local programming....thats what you are paying for.

I think that is cheating.....lol

It may be? but when I did it I was just trying to get what I had paid for, since I subscribe to center ice. When I went south to my winter home, taking my recievers with me (another cheating according to Bev policy, a bug of mine which I may address on a new thread) I discovered that I could not get local games carried on Snet because this channel was one of the ones carried by the adopted Nimiq whose footprint does not cover that area. So I could not get them there and when I went to the center ice channel, I was blacked out:confused:, even though the feed I would watch there is exactly the same one as on Snet. PPV was not a big issue last year although it appears to be this year, with the Flames anyway, and HD on center ice was also not very prevalent. But what is the difference between that and the Maritimer who is a Montreal and/or Ottawa fan who moves to Alberta for a job, gets Bev and center ice and now can watch these games. The purpose of blackouts is to encourage people to buy tickets to the game rather than watch it on TV. As others have noted on this thread, it is therefore absurd to blackout Senators games for people living in Halifax and other similar situations. By the way, why are CBC games not blacked out? Do they pay a special fee to the NHL to get this?

Any idea why Bell isn't picking up the Rangers game tonight in HD? When clearly it's available as every replay shows MSGHD on it?

I am somewhat peeved off that the Rangers - Lightning game isn't being shown, too. They've got four channels, two aren't showing anything, and the Rangers and Bolts are always a good matchup. On the same note, what stopped the Devils and Senators from being beamed up on HD on Saturday nite.

The Sens PPV games, so I'm told by ottawasenators.com, are to be shown in HD. I hope that they're right!

i thought that the hd feed was boston's feed (nesn). If that was the case, it should be blacked out in ottawa to protect their feed (a-channel)

Well the local feed was there on 208 But Only in SD. Thankfully with my 9200 I could get the OTA feed from CBOT. And you don't get the compression problems either...
For Sundays Game the 'A' channel feed was crappy in the 1st period and it had nothing to do with BEV cus I checked OTA as well and it was all washed out too. Somebody fixed the problem during the game as it was better in the 2nd period.

JB1 the info I give on this site is the official info we are given a agents...

If both teams are blacked out call the customer servicecause that shoudn't be...

In Ontario for example, they have the Toronto team and the Ottawa...

The part of Ontario that is closer to Toronto is blacked out for Toronto and the Ottawa part is blacked out for games of the Ottawa team. Toronto doesn't get blacked out when Ottawa is playing, and Ottawa doesn't get blacked out when Toronto is playing

I just spent 40 minutes on the phone (25 on hold) with ExpressVu trying to convince them that I should be getting RDS-HD as part of my HD + NHL-CI package. I didn't have any luck, but before I tilt at that windmill again I thought I'd see what others are getting with NHL-CI.

I'm in the Ottawa region, so we often get blacked out of CI games and are told to watch them on RDS (123) or RDS-HD (863) due to RDS holding the French language rights for our region. Case in point, tonight's Carolina/Montreal game - if you go to the guide data for that game on the CI channel it directs viewers in my region to the RDS channels.

I don't subscribe to RDS, but I've been getting it on ch 123 ever since I signed up for NHL-CI. Since I'm also an HD subscriber I believe I should receive RDS-HD, even if it's only for the duration of such games, but the CSR I spoke to didn't think so. In fact, he didn't even think I should be getting RDS and had to go away for a while to confirm that RDS-HD even existed.

Is there anyone else out there getting RDS & RDS-HD solely due to their NHL-CI subscription, or are you just getting the SD channel (or neither)?

Shaw has added sme games, but none seem to be from VersusHD for some inexplicable reason?

Is Bell offering the Pens-Ducks game Saturday in HD? We're getting SD version of that while getting the Canes-Caps in HD along with the Phoenix game.

I am pissed at BEV. In Halifax, I can only get the game tonight on standard definition on ch 406 even though it is advertised to be on ch 867-HD. Can't get it in NHLH2 or SNHD2- both blacked out. Called BEV support, useless people- didn't have a clue what I was talking about. In the end a supervisor said she had put the authorization through and would take 15-30 minutes for the change to go through. I have no faith in the response. I am also an NHL Center Ice and HD subscriber to BEV. In Atlantic Canada we are blacked out way too often on the NHL Center Ice package. We don't have a local team unless we drive 12 hours to Montreal.
Any thoughts? Similar things happen to others. If the change doesn't go through I'm going after a serious credit

The hd channels wil be there, im just still wondering why we arent getting all the preseason games that the centre ice online is getting and why ours are blacked out and centre ice online has no blackouts for preseason

Yes, the prairies have Edmonton and Calgary as home teams. Edmonton games on CI are unavailable in Calgary (and right across the prairies) and vice versa.

Because of transmission and contract issues, only Cablevision in NY is able to show MSG HD and FSNNY HD games. You won't find it anywhere else.

re: mover's signature

NHL blackouts have nothing to do with selling more tickets. They have to do with protecting local television rights holders.

CBC has national rights.

AEV,

jb1 lives in Manitoba. The NHL has decided Manitoba (and Saskatchewan and Alberta) are in both Edmonton's and Calgary's home region. There is nothing he or ExpressVu can do about it until the NHL smartens up.

If the information you are given tells you Manitoba should be getting either Calgary or Edmonton games on CI then it is wrong. Manitobans will get neither team. Try and lift the Manitoba black out for either Calgary or Edmonton on a Manitoba account. You'll find your system shouldn't let you.
