New Tricks - Series 7

I knew it was on Thursdat this week but I'd forgotten it was - if you see what I mean! I have the series V+'d anyway, so I wouldn't have missed it even if I HAD forgotten.

But I remembered at 8.30.

Really enjoyed tonights episode. Great mix of serious drama and comedy.

I bailed out during the bizarre comedy interlue when the sprinklers were set off - totally inapropriate given the overall tone/subject matter.

Yes, the plots are always a bit "ropey", the scripts are banal, but it shows what four terrific character actors can do when cast together. It should be on every drama school curriculum as an example of what real professionals can do when presented with any old script.
For me, it's practically unmissable..you rarely have the opportunity to watch four top British character actors at work in one show. :D

Nearly missed it again last night after another surprise Thursday showing. Anyhow, after what I thought was a dodgy opening episode this series has settled down into being as entertaining as some of the earlier series. Although I think the lack of appearances by the boss Strickland is making the stories feel awkward at times. I reckon the format neeRAB a shouty boss to annoy Sandra. I assume the actor was busy elsewhere, but they should have just recast as they've done that before.

I thought Brian was brilliant with the twitter subplot - "I can sum up what you've achieved on twitter today in 6 characters!" - which pretty much summed up my view on it as well. The only poor bit was that actor playing the street graffiti bloke. That had to be the worst acting performance in the history of tv. If the idea was to show that the bloke was an utter idiot, it failed as the actor just wasn't convincing, even as an idiot. But if he was supposed to be streetwise then I feel embarrassed for everyone involved in his scenes, including the actor who had that look in his eyes that said he was going to fire his agent for getting him a part he had no idea how to play.

Oh and it's a good job Sandra got to wear flat heels this week or she wouldn

Dunno if anyone else thought this but it was bad continuity in a way- remember the ep where Jack goes to see a medium about Mary and then finRAB a case from it- he believed in all of that yet last night he was completely against the idea.

Love it though, and glad Sandra's brother made an appearance normally they don't bring up the big cliffhangers in the new series.

i really like this programme - always have.
Characters are great and the storylines are always good.
Just wish they made it in HD
Great Friday night TV for a mid-30s bloke like me!

There's very few programmes I've ever watched from the Pilot onwarRAB, but New Tricks is one of them.

I was hooked from early in the Pilot when Jack and Sandra were interviewing candidates and Gerry came in, sat down, studied Sandra and then suddenly said to Jack, "It 'er, innit? .... Woof, Woof, Bang! Bang!" Lol :D

Not to mention the man they were gonna offer a job to who dropped dead in the office .... and the drunk one.
Hilarious! lol

And I like how they have Jimmy's wife playing Alan's wife!

What BBC channel was it on? I swear that @ 9pm last night on BBC 1 there was a Traffic Cops not New Tricks.

*EDIT* Never mind, found it was on in BBC Scotland.

A very recent convert to this cracking series I am hooked, have been watching as many episodes as possible on Sky's channel 132 and of course follow the current series closely.
Unless very much mistaken the alcoholic doctor was played by Harriet Walter.
