New Spooks tonight....

Now that was good.

Looks like the budget has been cut but don't need the levels of money that 24 has to make good TV.

I like the look of the new girl. She's going to be fun :)
 
Haven't read the rest of the thread, but what on earth is going on with Lucas? Was he going to Kill Malcolm?

Whats with the guy bribing him? Still an active agent for someone? It isn't worth giving into the bribe is it?

btw, the episode about the chineese, is that worth watching? I only saw the first 20 mins or so.
 
ITV has scored only a handful of bona fide new drama hits over the past few years - Whitechapel, Law & Order: UK and Unforgiven among them.

There have been many, many more which have struggled to make the five million mark - most of them serials - and even more that have been massive flops. Let us not forget Whistleblowers, Harley Street, The Palace, Rock Rivals, Married Single Other and Identity.

And they are just the titles that reached the screen. There is a slew of others that have been filmed and will never see the light of day, supposedly because they are so bad. RIP Hereafter, Me And Mrs Jones, Thursday 20th, Avenging Angels and Bombshell.

Contrast this with the glory years when ITV routinely trounced the BBC with the likes of Cracker, Soldier Soldier, London's Burning, Peak Practice, Bramwell, Bad Girls and Footballers' Wives.

So yes, on the basis of the evidence, I think there's a pretty strong case to make that ITV drama is struggling badly ...

So go Spooks! :D
 
He couldn't be his father - Iain Glen is only 10 years older than Richard Armitage!! He does look a bit rough in Spooks though but I think they said his character is supposed to have had a stroke.
 
I don't know what it is about Spooks but I have trouble suspending belief when watching it. I watch all sorts of programmes that have ridiculous plots but will Spooks it grates a little.

Like programmes always have BS computer stuff in them and as someone who knows quite a bit about computers, it's frustrating seeing plot threaRAB resolve with complete nonsense. They could replace the computer bits with a wizard who just tells them everything they need to know.

In addition to my post just a moment ago number 107, what storylines would posters like to see?

I think I'd like one on defence companies, how they milk so much money during wars and maybe wars are done for them and how much they make generally and hold governments over barrels/run rings round them for a start.

Maybe one on where the likes of India and Sudan's ambitions take them militarily as well? They want military equipment, Spooks get involved to an extent or something?
 
I thought that. Where is safest? The underground concrete cells in MI5 HQ, or some house, in London, with doors and windows?

I felt the descending lift scene was referencing the scene in Phamton Menace with Obi Wan and Darth Maul, waiing behind force screens, for what its worth.
 
Didn't really make any sense. Malcolm knew that Lucas had either gone over or was compromised. Lucas knew that Malcolm knew that, so why go back to the house? Surely there is a team looking to take Lucas in?


All we seem to know is that he is heavily linked to whatever happened in Africa 15 years ago when 'John' became 'Lucas'. Quite what hold or how has not been revealed.
A bit academic now as Lucas has blown his cover.


It was one of the better ones of the series (no saying much) and left some openings for future events.
 
Really wasn't expecting to enjoy it but really did even though the stuff on the boat was a little bit "Ultimate force."

Like the new woman. I never liked Jo and think she should have gone at the beginning of series when Adam Carter went. A few more people would be good on the grid too.

'Lucas' was called John, on several occasions.

PS: I tried to find this thread earlier, thinking there must be some recent comments. I didn't know whether it would be here in general TV progs or 'cult' and couldn't see anything on the first page of either. When I did a search for 'spooks' it only showed RAB articles, not the forums. I couldn't find a forum where users discuss RAB and how it works. Have I missed something?
 
I liked the fact that we finally had an episode of Spooks where we actually 'win! That's is something that is missing. And I don't just mean they stop an attack, I'm talking about getting one over on another country sort of thing.

And it was nice that even if Lucas collapses next week so far he's not actually given away anything too important.
