New Spooks tonight....

You could always turn the computer off and just watch the TV programme and enjoy it, or is that just stupid?

It is like someone coming on here and asking why the home secretary was killed just after Ruth had explained it on TV and the HS had confirmed it in his dying speech.

I wonder sometimes, I really do.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

The writers of Spooks failed to realise two important facts about EMP. Firstly EMP does not work underwater. The pulse is quickly absorbed by the water molecules and turned into heat after just a few inches. Secondly, the submarines themselves are made from a watertight steel construction which effectively renders them into Faraday cages. None of the electronics inside the submarines would have been knocked out by an EMP and as a consequence the terrorists should have completed their mission of blowing themselves up.

I think they wimped out of getting the girl to reset the "Sentry" system by using the "get out of jail free" plot-device of the EMP bomb. How far would Lucas have gone to ensure her co-operation?

I liked the end. Just when I was thinking "how ironic that Lucas is suspicious of someone else's background"...bang!

Yes, I imagine that US and UK security services were using prototype handheld satellite phones when the consumer market was still lumbered with those briefcase ones.

But Spooks has gone down the 24 route where the techies have access to everything and the ability to do just about anything. The ability to control any CCTV system seems to be the worse.

This article outlines Kudos' concerns about what the BBC gives them to make Spooks:

It's been pretty clear from what we see on-screen that the cuts are impacting on the show: there certainly used to be more regular characters.

The only other way the budget could be increased would be to enter into some kind of co-production deal (as Carnival has done with its new Downton Abbey series) - but as Spooks is a long-standing series, rather than a brand new title, that might be difficult.

As for the BBC Three 'advance screenings', my guess is they've been dropped so the show's BBC One ratings aren't dented.

I'm just hoping that last night's episode will have beaten the appalling Bouquet Of Barbed Wire on ITV ... *crosses fingers*

I didn't know that Briget Jones was now in spooks!
Oh sorry it's the woman from the thunderbirRAB movie.
Great actress but does come across as a Briget Jones character

Nice start, good end, silly middle. I hope that's the duff Spooks episode out of the way nice and early.

Maybe they fancied another 'deep fat fryer' moment. I know I do!

She doesn't do much for me.

me neither, but then neither did Ros - I only liked Miranda's character and Keely' out of all the females - not forgetting the lovely Ruth - love, love, her

Is Lucas compromised or is he bait being used by Harry to lure those who are after the Albany file? My first thoughts when Ruth revealed she had been tracking Lucas was that Harry already knew about Lucas and was annoyed with Ruth.

I'm a bit of a new recruit to Spooks so am not familiar with the history and the Malcolm guy and apologies if I am totally wrong.

I doubt that Lucas has really gone bad as if he had they would have to write him out.
Theres always a little bit of an overlap when Spooks replaces their lead spy Tom/Adam then Adam/Ros/Lucas. If Lucas is being written out then they would have bought the replacement in by now and it cant be Beth or Demitri as neither characters have been fleshed out enough yet to take over as lead. They could throw a swerve ball and reveal that Ros isnt actually dead I suppose.

I know Spooks has a reputation of killing of it's main characters, but this new team has only began to be established really, I dont think they'll get rid of Lucas at this point. I might get proved wrong though.

oh i agree, one of my favourite spooks episodes ever!! the first few of this series really dragged but the last couple it's really started to pep it up and last night's just had me on the edge of my seat!!

It wouldn't have mattered whether Lucas called for medical help or not. The girl was shot in the neck and bled to death, which would be proven by autopsy. There's nothing Lucas could have done for her.

This is by far the best series of Spooks I've watched. They have built a great team of characters after the losses in the earlier series. Enjoying the sub plot going on with Lucas. It will be a pity this turns out be the final series.
