new JAMES BOND trailer"Casino Royale"

is this the trailer that has that great low down black and white shot at the start?

thought it looked pretty good actually - quite stylish.

and i think Craig will make a great Bond - perhaps not so much what we've been used to with Brosnan - but arguably more in keeping with Fleming's idea of Bond - which i don't think is necessarily a bad thing.

I agree with you. Everyone seems to be comparing CR to OHMSS (even going to the stages of Brosnan returning!) but I think it's very different. I think part of Lazenby's trouble with the audiences was that he wasn't shown on posters for the movie or publicised as the new Bond. He was also paired with Diana Rigg, arguably more famous for The Avengers. He was a good actor and I, for one, would have been happy if he got the seven-movie deal.

I saw the trailer the other day and was sold. Daniel Craig certainly looks the part and his acting has always impressed me before. The Bond franchise certainly needed a change of direction, I didn't really rate the last two.

He was given it but quit after OHMSS because he took the terrible advice of his management that James Bond was now a spent force and he was better off walking away from it.

Only one Bond actor has been told "No more, thanks" by the producers - Pierce Brosnan - and then only because the producers felt it was time for someone younger (if you believe their story) or because they felt Brosnan had become a bit of a prima donna (if you believe the unofficial line).

Well said.

The same myth seems to surround 'Licence to Kill' when, in reality, the only country where it performed less well than expected at the box office was the US (whether that was due to a lacklustre advertising campaign or a poor choice of release week, or both, is debatable). Also, because of the legal rangles that the production company was going through at the time and the subsequent legal bills, very little money was thrown at 'LTK' in comparison to other Bond films before and since (allowing for inflation) so its return on investment was more than merely satisfactory and in percentage terms, higher than some of the other films.

Daniel Craig does look like he could be ex-special forces as Bond was. Pierce Brosnan never really looked that hard-edged. Craig's just a little on the short side for Bond. And he's still got the wrong hair-colour. Right age, though.

Same here! Just saw it and it looks brilliant! I think Daniel Craig will be fantastic. I honestly can't see why people are getting their knickers in a twist over him, the makers are right to go in a completely new direction as the last two Bond films were so disjointed and poor. I think Daniel Craig will do very well - especially in those little blue speedos!

Daniel Craig actually looks like he could kill out of necessity and that he would be driven by basic human instincts and desires, unlike the Bond of the more recent years, who, I have to say, seemed to become a bit of a spoof of himself.

Well, anyway, as of now, I cannot wait to see it.

I think the prolem is - who is Bond? Is it the thuggish ruthless killer in the early Connery movies? Or the wisecracking indestructible smoothy of Moore? or the more vulnerable, hanRABome Brosnan? (I exclude GL and TD because I don;t think they got long enough to define the character).

What I;m trying to say is every Bond is different. The worse thing would be for DC to try and base his Bond on one of the others - he neeRAB to define it himself.

the trailer looks great - proper 'muscular' fighting and DC will be fantastic i think

he can actually ACT - james bond is just a part remember..

Did anybody know who Timothy Dalton was before he got the part??

Am I alone in thinking that he was OK in the part - I am afraid that I might be!!! I'm not saying he was the best Bond, but he does not deserve to be dismissed so easily and often!!

As for Daniel Craig, mark me down in the "Wait and see" column!!!
