Needless: Needlessly awesome

Wow. Just took the first episode for a spin. All I can say is: soooooo awesome!!

Its a show that revels in its over the top-ness and I friggin love it for that. The only real complaint I have so far is that extremely loliconerific ending theme... why, Japan, why?

From what I can tell, confusion about the ending is mainly what brought this series to everyone's attention. Not that I support their use of the ending, but it undeniably brought the show a lot of attention that it originally wouldn't have had.

I really wonder how the lesbian lolis and the rest of the series connect, though, since they appear in the opening too, along with two other what appear to be enemies that look like they fit more in magical girl series than what we've seen of the show so far. I hope we don't have a huge genre shift on our hanRAB.

For those curious, here's the opening, and here's the infamous ending (not safe for work). They are quite different.

I really liked the first episode, it was pretty kick ass, as i expected. But that ending came out of nowhere, i was like "whats with these random schoolgirls!!", lol.

NOT COOL! I wanted to make this thread first!

Anyway, yes, this is basically TTGL the second without mecha and an even more convoluted storyline. However, when it comes to character, it's completely different. Whereas Kamina was stupidly GAR awesome and Yoko was butt-kickingly intellegent awesome, Adam is the intelligently GAR awesome and Eve is the stupidly butt-kicking awesome....yes, for me this is serious business for these kinRAB of shows.

And I love it to death. Especially the opening song. It's so awesome it's name makes no sense. ("WE'RE MODERN STRANGE COWBOY!")

And I have to say, that ending is so messed up I can't stop watching. I always need a napkin to clean up the....blood....yeah, that's what I meant...you know, from nosebleeRAB!

I may need a few more episodes to get into this series. It went through the basic shounen first episode syndrome. The series just neeRAB to provide more about its universe before it can grab hold of me. I was the same with Gurren Lagann so I will give until episode 3 to get me hooked. That ending does not help at all.

First of all, Kamina wasn't stupid, he was a passionate and expressive man. Second Yoko was intellegent? She was basically Tsundere Kamina with little depth and a sex syrabol. Adam seems like a Ban Mido type and Eve is the second coming of Hakufu from Ikki Tounsen. This little dude seems like Simon, which is a bad thing since Simon was the worst main character in any mecha due to him taking a backseat to Kamina and Yoko in terms of popularity and plot relevance. He just became a dude who became famous because of Kamina's GARness.

Yeah that really turns me off.

Watching the second ep now. Man, this intro is sooo awesomely needless ... or is it needlessly awesome?

Wow. second ep and they've already broken the 4th wall

"You're this anime's hero? How shocking!"

Eve is now my favorite character

Someone posted below on one of the parts of episode one on YT that the ending might've been made to get people to watch the show. Plus the fansubs just really made me wish I was in control of the dub of the show since the ending would be the first to go. Hey, it might sound like a 4KiRAB move but we really didn't need to see three loli girls make out all for nothing. If they show up in the series, that's okay as long as they don't go gaga over each other like they did today. It's like the three girls from Basquash's first opening. They don't do nothing but sing and dance. Plus, they appeared in one episode doing nothing but be cameos. What a waste.

The beginning of the episode was great and hilarious but then everything else kinda petered out to...I don't know how to explain it....but while in my mind, the first episode was exciting, I also thought that it was kinda 'meh'. This episode had almost every cliche from the hotheaded female to the loser main character who has his own share of cool abilities to kick the crap out of the enemy. Plus the whole "Yamada" joke was just there. It showed no purpose unless you're fluent in what it means in Japanese. Plus who didn't see the whole "character gets killed to save another leaving him/her dead and the villain unscathed" scene coming? to me episode 1 neeRAB some work to really get me into the show but I'll still watch it. Just someone let me know when the next episodes are up.

If there's a manga for this, bring it to the U.S. now because we don't need it to be so slow as the Bandai translation of the GL manga. I'm STILL waiting for my copy of Volume 2.

Slightly off topic but Eclipse (the idol singers from Basquash) show up more than one episode and actually have relevance to the plot.

I rather have them in the show but not in the first opening/second ending since now it's official that they actually do something that's better than just prancing around in their color-coded dresses.

Needless: it's like Gurren Lagann and Bo^7 had a child and that child does meth.

Who else thinks that when the three Yuri Lolis show up it will turn out they're sisters?

And really: a money shot joke already.
