Need wedding gift idea - may be kitchen related.

There aren't many sidewalks hereabouts, the closest sidewalk is about
4 miles down the road. I'll be wearing them mostly indoors and in my
yard. I'm mostly concerned that they'll be comfortable, that they
don't fall apart, and that their color doesn't transfer to my feet (a
common problem with the cheapies). I don't expect flip flops to take
the place of hiking boots... for working outdoors I wear LLBean boots.
Thanks.

What about a frame for a photograph taken at the wedding or on their
honeymoon? You could even enclose a note for them to feel free to regift if
they already have an overdose of frames. Polly

I just looked at the Uggs site, they don't have much of a selection of
flip flops and what they do have are pricy and made more for style
than utilitarian, leather covered surfaces won't work in wet except
probably why they don't squeak, rubber surfaces against wet skin make
sqeaking sounds, more like farts. Uggs flip flops don't look like any
better quality/construction than what they sell at the 99? store, just
more stylish with the leather trim. Uggs look like they're made for
the JAPS who mostly sit around playing canasta. I think the Crocs
suit my use better, I need something that can hold up to wet
ground/grass and that I can hose off the mud before bringing them
indoors.

Weddings are often followed by honeymoons; anything fresh might be
wasted.
Although gift cards are a price giveaway, older people in the day of the
internet, will have a pretty good idea what you spent anyway, whatever you
buy.

People combining two homes into one, probably are trying to get rid of
spare stuff rather than want more; and they have established tastes. I'd
stick with the voucher idea so they can treat themselves; dinner or
theatre tickets or garden stuff; whatever you think they will most enjoy.

I've been thinking about one. Are they expensive?

The soles on these are made of the same material/color as the top
part. I don't wear them for walking out and about, so I can't address
the issue of soles wearing out and getting slippery. They're cheap
enough that anyone should be able to afford to replace them at the
slighted hint of wear & tear.

That's always a safe choice, no matter what the occasion. There are
places that personalize frames with names and dates too.

Not necessarily a fancy-schmancy restaurant, but a gift cert to
one of their local favorites. Going out to dinner is a treat, more so
as you get older and more tired of cooking.

Or if they appreciate wine, a really NICE bottle or two.

I get the impression that you don't know both parties too well, or you
wouldn't be seeking advice here - and buying cooking equipment/foodie
stuff for "unknowns" is always difficult.

My suggestion: a set of bath/hand towels. Even if the couple in question
are into cooking; one can never have too many of those ;-)

Oh, man Christine... you need to get that taken care of. Foot pain
makes life miserable if your job requires standing and I can't think
of much that's worse than hip surgery, so the pain can't be holding
you back. I hear that once you get it done, you'll wish you'd gotten
it taken care of sooner.

I can't see flowers as a wedding gift. Most likely they will be trying to
get rid of the flowers at the wedding and/or reception. And won't they be
going away for a honeymoon?

I already did. In 2009...remember? I had bunion surgery on my left
foot. Still have to wear wider shoes.... The other bunion, is not
painful, unless I wear too tight shoes. And many shoes are too tight
at that point on my foot.
If I wear correctly fitting shoes, no pain at all.

OB Food: Will be getting a corned beef brisket later today. Thinking
of fixing a la Dimitri, which also similar to one form Simply Recipes.
