Need help with car audio problems.?

I recently put two 10" subs in my truck and a 400 watt amp with it. The amp stopped working right so i bought one from my friend (who just pulled it out of his truck) and attempted to hook it up. I used a voltometer or whatever its called and had a connection. The lights wont come on the amp but still has power. All fuses are good. Need to finish soon!
I checked the remote wire multiple times and it is good. The amp is a Scoshe.
