need help w/ car audio setup?

I have a little less than $500, drive a chevy equinox and want something that will sound good. i was thinking 2 10'' subs but dont know what kind or how big of amp. anything would be helpful.
 
Be careful with used equipment, the person that used it before you could have ran it at max or mistreated it? just do a simple amp and sub combo, if you dont want something up there made for competition, you could always hit walmart and get your amp kit, subs, amp(s), and boxes =) or just go to an electronics store that sells car audio, you can usually find a good deal or to if ya shop around first, are you looking for insane bass or just something that will give you just a little extra bass?
 
Get used equipment. You can find some decent used stuff for that money and you will have a bangin sound system if you choose the right stuff. Just research all the products you look at. And read these websites to get your feet wet so you can really get to know what your getting into:
