I spent almost my whole life in a town of 500 in western Indiana. When I joined the military, I was sent to Fort Gordon, an installation in eastern Georgia. I've been here for 2 and a half years, and for some reason I can't figure out what it is about the culture that's so different and why it is that I don't see eye to eye with people from around here (not in a confrontational sense, I just don't feel comfortable down here). I know it goes deeper than what I say and how I say it versus what the Georgians say and how they say it. I'm just trying to understand it, where it comes from, and what I can do to feel, well, more comfortable.
