Need help deciding between a synthesizer and midi controller?

I currently have a really old Casio keyboard from when I first started playing piano. It's really old and beat up and sounds horrible. It needs to be retired.

I also want something that will be able to used to create beats via Ableton Live so I went to Guitar Center to see my options.

Option #1: MPK49. I know this thing is a dedicated midi-controller. I kind've hate the fact that it needs to be connected to a computer in order to be used. I also love the drum pads on this machine which will come in handy in making beats. Price $399.

Option #2: Roland Gaia SH-01. When I played around with this, I loved the way it sound. It would be sweet to use a synth with Ableton in order to create my own unique sound. I know this thing can be also be used as a midi-controller but it lacks the drum pads of the MPK49. Also since it is a synth, will it be as good as a dedicated midi-controller. Price $699.

Option #3: Do you have any recommendations? Is there anything that is a decent synth and dedicated midi-controller combined which also has a drum pad?
Or maybe should I get the Akai MPK49 now and get the Roland Gaia SH-01 later on down the road.
If you have any recommendations, please keep it under $699.
Oh yeah. I need control knobs. Similar to the ones found on the the MPC49
Another possibility is to get the Roland Gaia with the Akai LPD8
