Naughty Cineworld!!!!!

I've not had it stop me from seeing a film that's opened on the Wednesday, but perhaps it's down to the individual cinema.

The only time I've ever been stopped from seing a film was when I tried to use a pass supplied in return for advertising at the cinema, that can't be used on some nights.
 
I got the email about it a couple of weeks ago so I knew it was coming. Went to see Coraline at the weekend and wasn't charged. Went a couple of nights later and there was a sign up that says it starts today.

I ain't bothered though. I'm not fussed about 3D films anyway.

With respect, I hate to break it to you, but nobody cares that much.

At the end of the day it is in their T&Cs now so no new subscribers are being misled. If people choose not to read small print in life then more fool them.

Has anybody bothered to contact Cineworld or is it all just "contact Watchdog", "contact Watchdog". What have Cineworld to say on the matter?

What is it that people want to see happen? They're not going to remove the Real-D surcharge, they can't. Do you just want them to let you break your subscription, so you can ultimately end up paying more over all?
 
The point is that the 3D surcharge should be incorporated in the Unlimited monthly fee - which went up not that long ago. That's how the card is supposed to work.

I suspect the way it'll go is that there will be no public shaming - Watchdog tried it before with refreshment prices & policies and it went nowhere.

Some people will give up their subs. Some will pay. Some will reduce or eliminate 3D films. Some will challenge "Cine-lore" by subterfuge.

There will be no change to policy unless it suits Cineworld.

P.S. Has anyone ever been caught breaking the rules with their card - what happened?
 
this is like pay for view though you pay sky subscription then other things are extra it day light robbery really, but i wolud ont mind but they put the unlimited fare up as well so it charged double.:mad::mad:


it wont happen but if the wohle country boycotted the next three d film they would have to re think.

I don't have a unlimited card, but read this thread out of interest. Have you guys thought about posting over at Martin Lewis's www.moneysavingexpert.com there might be others over there who are complaining about this and if there are enough people kicking up a fuss Martin might look into this.
 
Unlimited was a brand they used before the surcharges (and before the rebirth of 3D). If you don't like it, you can always vote with your feet and cancel and not use their cinemas. By moaning and bitching and whinging, all you're getting is yourself wound up.
 
Which is what I did in May (detailed on here alread). Sure, I'm seeing less films - but I'm seeing the ones I *really* want to see, not every bit of rubbish that's being shown. It costs about the same and have far more free time. Best decision I ever made.
 
I used my card last sunday for a 3D film and wasn't charged any extra. My friend who works there says if you keep the glasses and re use them you wont be charged.
 
Whatever you do, don't lose your Unlimited card.

I did this a few weeks ago, and getting a new one sorted has been a nightmare (and is still not resolved).

A brief recap...
  • Reported card lost
  • They don't have my photo on-line, can I send a new one?
  • Send a photo
  • Two weeks later, still no card
  • "We haven't received your photo, you must have sent it to the wrong address"
  • What can I do?
  • "We'll cancel your old card, and you can sign up in the cinema"
  • Okay.
  • A week later, receive both a new "old" card (with the photo that was apparently lost), and a new "new" card.
Now have to sort out (a) resolving the multiple carRAB, and (b) whether their incompetence has cost me any money.

And, yes, the 3D pricing is still not acceptable.

Christmas Carol 3D is playing on 3 of 9 screens at my local CW - so the choice of other films is very restricted - and I think one of those is Up 3D.
 
Its absolutely rediculous that in easly November the years big Christmas release is showing on multiple screens around the country. Its too early!! I dont want to see A Christmas Carol yet. I want to see it in Decmeber. But by then it will be finishsing or hardly on any screens. Is anyone really going to see this now?
 
I haven't yet seen a 3D film and I don't plan to see one in the near future. However there's an obvious problem here, because if the cinemas are investing in new technology then they have to recoup their investment by getting people to pay to see the films that use it. I understand from other posts here that the surcharge for 3D films is imposed by the technology licensors rather than the cinemas themselves but presumably the cinemas have to cover the costs of the new equipment, including the cost of installing it.

So there's now less incentive for cinemas to show non-blockbuster films because they need to show the biggest films to make full use of the 3D equipment.
