There was a sign up yesterday saying all unlimited customers will face a 1.50 surcharge on 3D films.:mad::mad:


And they have just put the unlimited price up as well:mad::mad:

I still think that it's good value for money, either way. Myself and my best buddy have been going to the cinema now on our carRAB for about a month - we've probably been 7 times or something - it would have cost us stacks more if we were actually paying on the door, and we wouldn't have seen the amount of films we had.
 
Well, if you go to the website and signup without reading the T&Cs (which most people do) you have been mislead on a key aspect of your purchasing decision. The webiste makes no mention of 3D being excluded (and thats not a minor point). In fact the website indicates its included by having a great big image with 3D in the middle. Eithically wrong, poor customer relations and maybe illegal - IANAL.




Yes. They claim by phone that the T&Cs haven't changed and always excluded 3D.

This is flat out untrue. I've provided the old T&Cs and they don't exclude 3D, and since I've not been informed of a change, those old terms still apply as far as I can see. Furthermore, the local cinemas only started charging last weekend, so its definitely a new charge. Again, ethically wrong, poor customer relations and possibly illegal - IANAL.
 
The terms and conditions on that web page linked by jodastephen say that "Cineworld agrees to inform the Subscriber and the Payer (to the extent the same are applicable to it) of any amendments to the Cineworld Unlimited Card Conditions".

It might be possible to claim that Cineworld has broken this clause, if the new surcharge was not notified to existing subscribers. I don't know whether, even if they've broken their own T&Cs, Cineworld would be obliged to refund or cancel the surcharge to people who didn't know about it in advance, because the surcharge only applies to specific films for which all customers have to pay a surcharge.

However if there comes a time when all films are in 3D they will have to either drop the surcharge, or drop the Unlimited Card!
 
As a side track also did anyone see in the news today petrol stations charge 4 times more for food and drink and i think this also applies to cineworld.:eek::mad:
 
i sgned a contratc two years ago and when re newed did so ver the phone so I assume my old contract still in force in which case I think they may not be able to charge me and I still in 11.99 mode. what do people think? i gonna find it later and have a check
 
They have to give pretty much all the cost of the ticket to the film companies to cover the cost of making the film. No expensive food = no cinema. No one's forcing you to buy it.
 
We didn't have Unlimited carRAB at the cinemas I worked at so I don't know about Cineworld here. ... actually, yes, I remember now. When I had an Unlimited card (way back in 2005 when Serenity was released :D) I got turned away from some blockbuster or other on a Wednesday preview with my unlimited card.




I was working at a showcase cinema in the usmmer of 2006 when Mission Impossible and the like came out... their suspended freelist included the free passes with Orange Wednesdays, although that didn't always apply to new releases. It was usually the blockbusters that it counted towarRAB.

I always got put on Wednesdays, alone, because I was the only one who had the patience to deal with people hurling abuse at me for not accepting an orange Wednesdays token :rolleyes: Joyful times, those. To this day I feel guilty when I go to my local Odeon on a Wednesday :D
 
DepenRAB if it really is "Deluxe" - my local Cineworld has two screens numbered Premiere 1 and Premiere 2 - they are from the days when it was a Virgin Megaplex and they were more intimate licenced screens.

UGC (and now obviously Cineworld) removed the bar service and although they're still quite luxurious they are classed as a standard screen and can therefore be accssed on an Unlimited card - however you do feel like you're in a deluxe screen when you are in there (along with the name).

The exemption, therefore, mentioned in the T&C is only for those screens where they still offer an at seat bar service and complimentary food. As an example, Vue call this Gold Class and it tenRAB to cost twice the price of a standard seat.
 
And this is why I scrapped my card as for the money you paid you started losing priviledges such as advanced bookings, etc. Its seriously not worth it anymore.
 
I saw a news item about 3D somewhere. They said there would be 12 more big 3D releases this year. Assuming an UC customer went to all 12, we're talking about an additional
 
Slightly off-topic, but it would seem that some Unlimited customers are getting better deals than others with the choice of movies there are at their local Cineworld. At my local one, there's only 2 new films added each week, whereas others have one or two more.

I know this is probably to do with the amount of screens that a certain venue has to offer, but is there anyway of requesting a certain film, or more films to be added each week. Rather than having a million screenings of say Star Trek or Night At The Museum 2 - I'd much prefer to have a wider choice of films to watch to get the most out of the card.

As for the 3D element - despite Cineworld saying that there will be a 2D alternative, I've noticed that The Jonas Brothers 3D doesn't. (Not that there's any chance in hell that I'd actually want to watch that pile of arse.) I hope this is the onlly example where they do this.
 
Living where I do (South East London/NW Kent), I have 8 CineworlRAB I regularly go to, and a few more that would be a little more of a trip.

The 4 West End cinemas add considerably to the diversity of films available, and I (automatically) download all the schedules from all 8 cinemas to be able to get a single view of all the availble films. (See iMacros for Firefox, if interested).

During the summer and christmas perioRAB, I'm not sure that the UC would be worth it for me, if I only had access to the multiplexes.

edit: I think it's a shame that the big multiplexes can't reserve one screen for a rotating programme of minority interest films (perhaps 4 per week, rotating through the day so you could see them all even if you only went at the same time each day). Perhaps the distribution costs make this too expensive?
 
I think legally they are covered as far as arguments over terms and conditions are concerned.

I feel the only way we have a chance to get them to change their minRAB if we all contact them and advise we feel it is unfair to increase the subscription so much and then introduce this charge when regardless of whether it was excluded in t&c's they were letting us in before.

This alone will not work however if we advise we are not going to purchase food anymore and follow through with the threat this will have more of an effect.
