Name the worst remake

Did you ever see Alfred Molina when he was miscast as the late Tony Hancock?

Not only was he about 18 inches taller than Hancock (he had to stoop a lot), he had none of the humour Hancock displayed on telly.

It was dire.:o

How about...Tim Burton's version of 'Planet of the Apes'? Or, for that mattter, the Keanu reeves version of 'The Day The Earth Stood Still'.Still cringe inwardly when I think about those two abominations....

It was done about 20 years ago. Hancock wasn't a miserable person, he loved life up until depression got hold of him and he topped himself!

But on screen, Hancock was funny. The scenes Molina did as Hancock on telly, weren't.:D

I'm not saying any actor can actually be a carbon copy of Hancock, but there has to be at least something there in the persona he displayed in the Hancock Half Hour gems. :)

You've just listed two of the best remakes ever!
The Ladykillers was particularly good, and I was expecting it to be poor after the Coen Brothers previous "Intolerable Cruelty".

Emerich's Godzilla was basically a remake of 3 films - the first third was Godzilla, the middle bit was Jurassic Park (with the baby Godzillas, and was the weakest part of the film) and the last third was a remake of The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms. Apart from the middle bit, I thought it was an excellent film.

What d'ya mean, 90% of the movies released in the last ten years have Cage in them!:D

Have you seen his work rate. He already has about eight movies lined up for this year alone!:D:eek:

But you must remember, Nic Cage does a great job acting as Nic Cage.:D

Yeah, agree also with Christopher Reeve in Village of the Damned remake. I mean, why bother.

Also, Quarantine remake of Rec. Not so much a remake but a carbon copy scene by scene. I mean, why bother? There was only a year between the two!!!

So that the lazy americans don't have to read the subtitles.

I know, which was why I also said this: It was at this point that I started wondering if he has to be in absolutely everything :D

Maybe its a new rule in Hollywood - If you want to make a film, Cage must be in it. Otherwise, forget it :D

If you forget that 'The Italian Job' (2003) is in any way related to the '69 film, it's really quite enjoyable IMO!

Also, War Of The WorlRAB, what was wrong with it? I've seen it a few times now, and my only criticism is that it drags a bit in the middle.

The Wicker Man, though... my oh my, what was anyone thinking? The only way I can make sense of the film, is if it's a massive p*ss-take of Nic Cage by the director. :D

Yes The Wicker Man is dire, but I find it hilarious as well. When i see its on, i watch it just to laugh at it. So many classic moments...

'HOW'D IT GET BURNED?? HOW'D IT GET BURNED???'

'GET OFF......THE BIKE!'

And all the times he randomly punches and karate kicks the women! lol!

PS. Man on woman violence is bad in real lifem, I realise that. But in this film its just hilarious! :)
