ok - well i updated my product code with nemesis - unfortunately, nokias update service is telling me that my phone isnt currently supported
basically - the product code didnt change anything (still have the shutter sound) - im assuming i need a firmware update to "lock-in" the change
has anyone successfully "updated" their n82 firmware? maybe theres a different version of the update service to use (i just downloaded the latest from nokias site)...
I re-installed my F/W from APAC to EURO1.. it seems like it didn't master reboot my phone.. All my apps and setting are pretty much in their place, even if they are saved on my phone memory..
COOL!! :2thumbs:
And YES I am pretty sure I change it to the EURO1 I checked my language packs, and my Chinese Dictionary disapeared..
I also checked my shutter sound.. Its gone when I select Silent for Profile.
Anyways Good Luck to all.. And this is not recommended to newbies.. This is very risky and may brick your phone..
When this is done, go to europe.nokia.com and download the software updater, install it and run it. Once it reflashes your phone, it will restart it, and voila!
Now I just want to add. This probably doesn't affect too many of you, but I just wanted to say that Europe 1, 2 and 3 aren't the only product codes that have a silent shutter. I used the RUSSIAN product code and it also has a silent shutter, so I'm happy
P.S. I know all of these steps have already been posted here, I just wanted to summarize them into one post..
oh well - hopefully there will be a firmware update within the next couple of months so we can switch these bad boys over to euro
@4mynikka - at first, my phone wasnt recognized either - but after trying it 2-3 times, it actually recognized it - and then told me it wasnt supported - lol
It's not the firmware that makes the apps incompatible, it's the apps itself which don't know that the phone doesn't have the pencil key. The developers of the apps should check whether the pencil key exist and adjust the apps to use the # key if there is no pencil key on the phone.
Has anyone gotten a new firmware after the product code change? If so, what are the improvements? I am thinking of changing to a Euro code but I am not sure which one or if one is better then the others.
EDIT - but keep in mind, this basically does nothing without the firmware update (at least in my case) - now my phone shows one of the euro product codes, but it still has the asian firmware (hence - shutter sound)
