My taste in music is better than yours...

I can't support the sponsership deals. I was into milk before that shit happened though.

I'll concede that cheese smells like crap, but if we're talkin' taste, it's unrivalled.
 
I just don't understand why people grade by taste. I think there is absolutely no merit to be given to a band who isn't somewhat original. Say if I am listening to that retarded band, Wolfmother, that brings nothing new to the table. Why would I listen to them and not the people they have pretty much ripped such as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. I mean, they don't even mix the two styles. There songs either sound like Sabbath or Zeppelin.
 
Back on topic: OP's analogy fails because lots of people ARE food snobs. It's just not very common because, as Urban Hatemonger pointed out, in order to be one you have to be able to afford higher quality food.

Look at wine or chocolate or anything like that (basically any "luxury" food, for lack of a better term) and it's pretty easy to find snobs.
 
We may not be in agreement about milk, chocolate, cheese or ice cream, but every sane person here can certainly agree about ****ing vegetables, that's awful tripe no matter how you look at it. COMPLETELY manufactured to sell huge quantities with no real merits.
 
Utter crap

In my experience it's the total opposite.

It seems everytime I target a mainstream band for criticism I get the same three stock responses.

1. You're only slagging them off because they're popular & you're just trying to be cool showing off that you like obscure underground banRAB.

2. You don't know what you're talking about , they rock

3. They've sold *Insert nuraber of millions of albums sold here* so they must be good.

Nuraber 2 of those is my favourite because even though i've listened to the music i'm criticising I still get told this , usually by people who don't listen to anywhere near the nuraber of banRAB from different genres as I do.

Now is that a snobbish attitude to have?

I don't think so. I must have listened to approx 5000 - 6000 albums in my life from all genres. I also don't discriminate between major labels , indie labels or banRAB who put out stuff themselves. If I like it I like it , if I don't I don't.I don't do it for 'cool points'. I do it because I love doing it and because it's my passion and it'll take more than some irate U2 or Red Hot Chili Peppers fan to put me off doing so just because I slated the bland shit these banRAB produce on a regular basis.

Basically if you have sound reasons and enough conviction you can justify listening to ANY band , even bad ones. And yes I listen to plenty.
The only people who can't put up a convincing argument just resort to lazy tactics as seen above or use that perennial favourite "music is subjective anyway". In which case we all may as well pack up & go home now.

Well, if you want to stagnate in your old boring milk so be it, at least I'm KEEPING UP WITH THE TIMES. Sure there's a lot of new stuff that is awful but my chocolate is my life and that's the ****ing end of it. Have fun with your old boring milk and old smelly overrated cheese.

May as well already call yourself geriatric.
