My PS3 impressions so far

maybe, just maybe they'll fix that in a later patch. the system hasn't even been out for a month, give them time to fix things that people are unhappy with.

Actually you are correct, the ps3 is not for a hardcore gamer like yourself. But imagine an entertainment system composed of just 2 hdmi cables, receiver and game console.

That would be a very quiet and non-visually stimulating gaming environment.

I would at the very least like to add some sort of display device to your proposed system. Possibly speakers as well.

The 360 is gaining speed as it should be, being that it has been out for a year. But in the end, I think all three systems have many things going for it, which is good for us consumers.

Right now that is somewhat true. A year from now it wont be comparable. I know you're probably an xbox fanboy and are supporting HD-DVD because it's not Sony and all, but I guarantee you Blu-Ray will own HD-DVD. The shit everyone complains about with Blu-Ray is stupid. It has much more space, and much better backing, period. Just because it didn't use VC1 and h.264 right off the bat doesn't mean shit. HD-DVD people LOVE this time because they can complain about that, but I'm sure in the back of their minds they realize there is no reason why Blu-Ray wouldn't be better. It does everything HD-DVD does, but more. That's not even argueable.

Considering the Blu-ray version only has Dolby Digital 5.1 you goddamn right Dolby TrueHD, which is uncompressed, is the way to go
