My First Symbian Convert

I am proud to annouce I have completed my first Symbian conversion today. I sold a friend of mine a Made in Finland N91 sometime last week. He was hesitant at first considering the pricetag I put on it, its difficult for alot of people to see the use in a $400 phone. But then, there are the perks.

I decided to start him off with mp3s. Just a few, because that is what the N91 was made for. He got a little more interested, but still there is always that "I can just buy an iPod statement" that I remember giving, well I got it.

Then we went to Opera. He has never been able to go to any other site besides the ones he was "restricted" to for such a long time. This was very interesting to him, then I started up Agile. He was even more thrilled.

Then I moved on to full length movies. I already had quite a few movies already converted in s60v3 for my N73, Green Street Holigans being on of my favorites. He really liked this, and the fact that he could watch them and listen at work without his boss knowing(bluetooth) was a cool feature for him as well.

Then we went to TomTom, took me a bit but I got it working, loved it, being a programmer he was picking up the "cracked version of this" and "adjust any settings to make it the way you like it" of that type of stuff. He was way into it at this point.

Sold.

I still remember my first phone, a Nokia 7610, killer looks, its funny to see how far I have come since then. I remember how hesitant I was at first. I wasn't sure if I wanted to drop the cash for this one or for that one. Glad I did.

So for all of you who hate to deal with the n00b, remember, we were all there once. I know I still feel that way sometimes when I ask the right questions. So don't give up, for the symbian legacy to continue...it starts with you.

ah, my legacy is continued. I believe it was I, drewyehboi, that not only sold you on that 7610, but also popped your HoFo cherry.......those were the days.

LoL, I will always remember my first time rocking out on the sales floor while talking to customers and listening to three days grace via bluetooth. The customers had to notice my head bob.

I noticed S60 when my co-worker brought in his 3650. The UI looked prety neat, but the horrible keypad made me stay away for the time being.

My first S60 was a 6620, which I kept for over 2 years. I now have an N80.

I'm in my infant stages with S60 series. My E70-2 is a marvel in and of itself! I'm learning more configurations and downloading apps for this thing almost daily! Coming from a laundry list of S40 handsets like the 6822, the 6820, 6800. When I bought my first Nokia, the 6560, almost 7 years ago, I haven't looked back since! The quality of these handset are unmatched IMHO! I believe i've just reached fanboy status with this post.....

The N73 is my first S60, and all I can say about it is wow. My first phone was the 5160, and the great battery life and RF got me hooked on Nokia. My first GSM Nokia was the 6820, which was a little weak in the RF department. After being a candy bar fan, I went with the 6170 a few years back, and overall was disappointed with it. The things I loved about Nokia phones weren't there, battery lasted a day at most, and almost every other phone was doing better in the RF department. I decided to give Nokia one more chance and got a N73 2 weeks ago. Amazing. The RF is the best of any phone I have owned, and, while it's slower then what I am used to, I love the UI. Hands down the best phone I have ever owned, and has restored my faith in nokia :-)

thats funny cause i freakin LOVED my 6170. If it had bluetooth and a memory card I'da kept it. Loved the size, build, keypad, screen, everything.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the looks, and it was nice and solid feeling. Normally I don't even notice the RF performance, but my parents live in a fringe area, and I never got service there. And like I said, the battery never lasted more than a day. With my N73, I get service all throughout their house, and going from S40 to S60 is like night and day.
