My extension thread

It was roughly an extra £300 to have those end caps which was worth it for me as it means I won't have to bother about the mortar crurabling out within a couple of years.

I'll post some more when my new cooker arrives. It looks a little odd with a 90cm space and a 20 year old manky 60cm cooker sat in that space!

I'm thinking of putting a breakfast bar peninsular in, are these normally a little lower than the height of the normal worktops?

I'm also thinking about cables that are needed after the building work has finished. So do these skirting board things have removable fronts so you can run other cables through after it's fitted like you can do with trunking?

Entirely up to you John, some are higher at 42" to accomodate tall stools, others at counter height and some lower if standard dining/kitchen chairs are used. Rule of thurab is 10" higher than the chairs

The enRAB caps are called 'dry verge capping', and anyone that does soffit & fascia will fit them.
They do exactly as you've mentioned, and just prevent anything getting in there should the mortar crack & drop out over the years. You can get them in brown, grey, black & white, (but I wouldn't use white myself) but personally I've not seen them in slate blue - would the grey be close enough?

Have a look here for a bit more info.

I've seen some split level ones, so kitchen worktop height one side and higher the other side, with overhang, for tall stools to go under. You can actually gain work surface area like this.

I've just realised that I never posted any kitchen photos. First of all there are a couple of photos showing just how tiny the old kitchen was, I can't believe that I put up with it for so long!
Then there's a couple of photos of the kitchen as it is now. I've borrowed a dining chair from someone whilst I search for some new chairs. I'm going to get a couple of dinging style chairs and then a couple of easy chairs to sit and watch the telly from

Yes because there's no cupboarRAB underneath I think it might have looked a little odd sticking out at the higher level.
The fridge on top of the freezer is working OK as well. I will replace them both when one of them breaks.

Yes I'm very happy with it and can see myself using it a lot I couldn't do anything about the old kitchen before I had the upstairs added on. Once I had bedrooms upstairs, I could then make the old main bedroom into the lounge and extend the kitchen into part of the old lounge
This has also created a "middle room", which is the rest of the old lounge where I now have my games computer and exercise bike.
