My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding

I'll be watching it for sure!

There are quite a lot of people in our area whose families were travellers. Even though this generation have built their own houses they all still have trailers in their garden.

I've never had a problem with any of them and have seen their babies born and they are now polite young men and women who all have jobs. They always, always have time for a chat and they really respect their elders.

It seems strange to see big lads of over 6 foot and maybe 18 stone in weight doing exactly what their Mums tell them without question AND calling them "Mummy". :D But that's the way they're brought up.

Their parties are great - I've been to loads and they really know how to party. The girls dress up big-time and look amazing. I have to say I have never known any of them having babies before they're married though.

Expect to be amazed on Thurs night.;)

BTW. Did anyone see that little toddler who was dressed like little bow beep at the start in hideous yellow sequined dress and bonet?:eek:
 
Your grandfathers family must have been ashamed,there are NO IRISH ROMANIES only tinkers he must have wished he was a Romany,this was a tinkers wedding,yes they often marry their cousins as do many Irish people,you seem quite an authority on each aspect of this discussion please write a book on what it takes to be a nasty person to try to get a cheap laugh.the only lowlife youre talking about came across the water with your great grandfather it would seem.
 
I thought this programme was very thought provoking, and I felt sorry for the girls depicted. Inspite of their so called moral upbringing, they looked like hookers when they went out, and they and their prospective husbanRAB were depressingly ignorant and unambitious. It must be very difficult to be 'different' in traveller communities - imagine being a girl wanting a career and to live away from home before settling down - can't be many that get the chance!
 
her mum looks very nice in the lilac. You can tell she married into the clan can't you? They said the daughter was only second generation traveller.

they make the characters in Shameless seem like royalty. It's like flamenco meets chav, meets lapdancing club while having fluorescent paint thrown in. Apparently my family back to my great grandfather came from Irish Romany gypsies. I hope they weren't like these low-lifes!!
