My amp/sub keeps cutting out?

I've had my current setup for about 8 months now, and over the past few days, the subwoofer has been cutting in and out. It does it at completely random intervals (and periods of time. Sometimes it does it for a minute, sometimes it does it for 30 minutes), and it's been at the same setting for months now. When it cuts out, the amp power LED remains on. The amp has always run pretty cool (it has an exhaust fan, but recently it has gotten colder out as well), and when I touched it as soon as it cut out, it even felt cool to the touch. The ground cable is secure, and the power cable is too. There has always been enough power going to the amp (voltage has been checked), and I don't even run it that hard anyways. Never had any issues with dimming lights or anything. Since I don't think it's the amp overload switch, I'm not sure what else is could be. The sub itself? Head unit? Any ideas?

Here's my setup:

Head unit: Alpine CDA-9883

Amp: Kenwood KAC-9104D

Sub: Dual 12" bandpass system

Thanks!
Yes, the multimeter says the voltage is still constant when it cuts out. The sub is one of those pre-enclosed ones and is a pain to get out, but even if the impedance was really low, my amp is 1 ohm-stable so should that matter?

you said you checked the voltage with a multimeter but did you check the voltage while the sound was gone if not then do that first also check the remote make sure you use the ground directly at the amp for your ground reference on the meter if everything checks out disconect the subs and measure the ohm load at the amp check to make sure its not to low for your configuration
