Music Club

well, we are working a way through it... we'll post the rules in an hour tops.
We are 12 already (counting you in it)... there's no limit for participants up to this point.

As for Rickenbacker, I really didn't understand what you meant when you informed us of the music club in your school.

Okay, okay- I'll give this a proper listen as I've been procrastinating. Spinning right now, good review Deisel.

Edit: Yeah, I liked it. I always remeraber liking this band, just not loving them is all. Really the closest I get to punk is The Cramps and The Birthday Party. Anyway, the album was a pretty sick jam session but I've heard better. Maybe if they upped the distortion and did some crazier shit with those guitars.

The voice I actually really like, but that's only because of my worship of PJ Harvey and all the crazy shit she does with her lustful, oddball voice. My favorite song on the album was going to be R.I.P until they did... whatever they did to that song. False Start was a pretty good song but it made me wonder what kind of band they were, which isn't a band thing... actually it's a very good thing. I do love me a little diversity.

Anyway, all and all I'd give the album a good fair score- nothing too high and nothing too low. It's not like they aren't good, or they don't stand for anything, or this isn't a solid album... they just didn't blow my mind. Thanks to the person who submitted this, really would have been a while before I gave this a decent spin without you.

Downloading now. I shall post a small review in here hopefully. Forgive me if it's bad. I have no idea what style this is or anything. I'm excited kinda.

Oh NOW Nine takes charge. ;P
But seriously, maybe there should be a rule that keeps less people in here.
Maybe a theme or something?
I just can't imagine.
With all of us?
There would be 100 albums in here a week.

I say just let those three do their thing. Being able to pick a new selection every week, if you choose, isn't so bad. Even makes it more fun I think.

About the Hall of Fame thread though, I've never been involved in that and I'm not quite sure I get how it works even after reading the rules. A question though I'm wondering about, is if this club worked that way...then would brand new releases that are submitted go to the back of a long queue of albums? If so then it really seems like it wouldn't work so well for this.

I'm going to have to take a back seat these next few weeks (2 probably) I'm really busy with shit and can't write reviews on the 2 I've dowloaded, can I still recommend? & I'll still download the music, I just don't have time to provide my opinion. Sorry :(.

We do the same thing. Everyone convenes once a week and we pass around an album. Then we reconvene the following week to discuss the album, and another one gets passed out. It works well and it's a lot of fun. Good luck with this.

Round II
Second album to be picked on Sunday 10th, at 12:00 am (US time)

So I guess it's technically Monday 11th

Send us your suggestions.
Review the previous one, if you're interested.

Cheers.

RE: Ween

Obviously Chocolate & Cheese is an album I enjoy and have heard much before as I was the one who submitted it. The collection of varied songs makes it one of my favorite Ween albums and also might make it one of their most accessible. My favorite track is the song that got me into the band; Baby Bitch. It's just such a laid back song with language that balances out the pleasantness. Freedom of '76, Voodoo Lady, and Spinal Meningitis (Got Me Down) are also highlights. There's definitely some filler like Candi and The HIV Song and I never much cared for Drifter in The Dark but it doesn't take away from making C&C a great album.

Now remeraber everyone, send us your suggestions!

You can send it to any of us.
It's not really a waste.
If someone doesn't get their album picked, they can do what I did and submit the same one.
It's not difficult.
If they don't have the time to send it in that week, they can do it the following week.
