Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

Easy yes for me. Brilliant band. They were willing to take risks and experiment and it resulted in fantastic music. I would say that they are definitely the seminal band of the last decade and a half or so.

I'm going to say yes. Once you accept them for their over the top vocals and music they are a pretty fun band to listen to. Sure they don't have an amazing albums but they really don't have any bad ones either. Like Coldplay they started at the start of millennium channeling Radiohead's BenRAB/OK Computer era sound, though the channel must have had bad reception because musically they don't sound that similar too Radiohead. It seems after Showbiz they gave up on that idea and went for a more over the top sound. In terms of musicianship they are all talented , (it's too bad they don't know how to use it sometimes) Matt is a great guitar player and vocalist (though his lyrics are pretty meh, but his voice makes up for that) Chris is an exceptional bass player, and Dom is a decent drummer who usually fills the gaps in the music. I think they have alot of potential to make a truly memorable record if they lose some of their pop ethics. At times you can see them living up to that potential in songs such as New Born, Black Out, ect ect and at other times they come dangerously close but fail such as Take a Bow. They are one of the few banRAB I enjoy that get regular radio play aswell.

Beach Boys obviously a lock to me. As innovative and influential as banRAB like the Beatles and Kinks, and I think their best music was superior to the Beatles and on par with the Kinks.

I've only noticed it in this thread so far.

I see where you're coming from, but I think in the long run the community would benefit from letting "newbies" participate in forum events such as this one, as it strengthens the feelings of welcome as well as add new flavours of musical interest to the mix. But that's just my opinion.

What's the point of having a discussion board if everyone agrees about everything?

I voted no, however I'm starting to think that decision may have been a little premature. While I have to agree with Brennen, their earlier stuff was pretty hit or miss, but Aenima was a pretty solid album. They're one of the few alternative metal banRAB that can be discussed about by fans of underground metal and mainstream metal so the fact that they've bridged that gap is pretty admirable.

they also have the distinct role of dragging the helpless from the death grip of nu-metal trash into something mildly respectable.

Their like the jesus of musical taste.

MoRAB who are entitled to their opinions. I did'nt vote yes for Zep or Smith either. I don't know what you are trying to imply here. We did'nt vote yes. Such is life.

Start with their debut, VU and Nico. And (god forbid) you don't like that then listen to the self titled one. Get all of there stuff though. Like...now! Run!
