Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

Each to their own in the end in terms of aesthetics and you know and I both that but I really do not understand how a music board as educated as this one has no understanding of the influence of The Beach Boys.

I am no Led Zeppelin fan but it would be utterly churlish of me to deny their influence. In terms of vocal harmonies The Beach Boys and The Everly Brother and, later, the Bee Gees influence can be heard to this very day. Listen to the new Animal Collective album as an example. I have had frienRAB in various groups over the years who cite them as the groups that they listened to when aspiring to put vocal harmonies together. So this dismissal of them on this Hall of Fame thread makes me think that is is just a popularity poll and therefore a touch meaningless.

Be that as it may if I am going to vote in a meaningful Hall OF fame Frank Zappa is a yes for all the obvious reasons.

I vote yes. Nirvana were my, and many peoples, introduction to loud, aggressive rock music. I got into them when i was 14 and although they were never really my favourate band at any point i've been listening to them ever since.

I was fortunate to be introduced to Zappa at a young age. My father played his Strictly Commercial compilation in the car all the time. I remeraber my favorite song was Muffin Man (still is pretty badass, I think).

Kickass musician, one of the best American guitarists ever, and he had an incendiary sense of humor that could rip holes through anything.

That's what I meant by the forum, the tastes of each individual.

This guy didn't go by his tastes, he's using an objective criteria which isn't the point of the hall of fame.

Did you really just group Sigur Ros with Nickelback?

Also **** no. Nickelback doesn't deserve anything ever.

Even the Portuguese hate them...

And here's something to make the Metallica fans cringe...

Fully. I'm not disregarding their solo talents, but throwing 10 (okay, actually 9) rappers together to form a supergroup will do little for group unity and cohesions, regardless of how much talent each one brings to the table individually.

Dont get me wrong, I love the WTC, but in my mind they don't deserve a HOF nomination.

xEMGx I think one of the reason that they're not doing well is because you're constantly getting in people's faces about how they vote.

You're not exactly doing yourself any favours by acting like a rabid fanboy attacking anyone who dares oppose them.

People have different reasons for voting the way they do. You might not like some of the reasons why people vote no but it's their vote and it's their choice.

Just chill out a bit & let people have their say.
